Sure if you say so. At the world level, the Indian team is a non-factor - similar to our soccer team. We are barely relevant even in Asia.

^^I wasn’t saying. The tweet made it seem like it is. Just asking if it’s a big deal or nothing in the big scheme. Looks like latter?

In world order I am certain it means nothing. But for a country that's developing that sports I am sure it means a lot.

The guys who played that match, who knows a memory of a lifetime

This is class of 2029 high school, right? That’s a long way to go. I spotted another Indian name Neal Naryanan in the 4-star list. There could be more.

yeah, generally once the buzz starts to build up he should be there in top, lets see how many blueblood colleges will offer ,if i see a Duke,Kentucky or UNC offer then he is close to legit.
Now i see lot of PIO players either playing for fun or getting trained in Basketball in dallas area.

That’s so far away. Indian parents’ academic zeals can easily set in and basketball is an injury prone sport. I haven’t followed scouting at this age. Let’s see how it turns out.

Basketball is a very competitive sport in the US with a lot of the best athletic talent in the US playing basketball.

Pretty long shot for Indian American kids to make it to the NBA level. A few have made it to the NCAA (collegiate) level where the standards are also very high but none near NBA level. See link below for Josh Sharma who was a starter at Stanford at least in his final year.

Thanks for that reference, Arjun. He’s at least playing pro basketball albeit in Europe. He is half-Indian and may even have represented England as his mother might have English ancestry. He is 7 foot tall, which is rare in itself for a PIO. I think Sacramento Kings had a pro Indian player also 7’ tall that played a game or two (Bhullar?).

Sim Bhullar was mostly a publicity and marketing stunt at the NBA level. I think he may have played a few minutes in one or two NBA competitive games for the Sacramento Kings (who's primary owner is an Indian American) but otherwise was assigned to their development team. Looks like he's had a decent career in China after that.

Sim's brother Tanveer also played for New Mexico State and another state u (Missouri?). There are thousands of universities - okay maybe a 100 reasonable programs. So, making it in at the university level is doable. NBA is another story.

Here is a list of NCAA players from India. Chase Robinson, a Penn State Harrisburg player looks African American though. Don't know why he is listed under India. Is he from Indiana and this is a data-entry typo?

Right. Indian Americans may have occassionally made it to better ones. You can find a few names in the second answer in this Quora thread.

Ryan Agarwal of Stanford basically had mop up duty his first two years. This year, he has started playing better.

now if the vijay keshaav continues to play as 5 star recruit for next 4 years ,he will have pick of colleges and couple million dollars to play in NCAA
