Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun had another mediocre round, and slid to T33 at the end of the tournament with an even par round of 72 on the final day. It has been awhile since Arjun played through the weekend, so I think we can attribute the weaker play on the third and fourth days to some rustiness from lack of 4-day competition. One step at a time...I do think that Arjun came back too hastily from injury; competition play is one way to practice your way back to form, but he may have sacrificed a lot by way of world ranking points, etc.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Agree with you PKB. Arjun might have lost out on a possible Medical Exemption for 2010, by returning early and practically doing nothing except missing a series of cuts on the PGA Tour. Surprisingly Arjun has committed to play the Indian open in Delhi from 8th Oct. So looks like he is not even trying for a PGA card by finishing in top 125. Only Qualifying route for him now....PKBasu wrote:One step at a time...I do think that Arjun came back too hastily from injury; competition play is one way to practice your way back to form, but he may have sacrificed a lot by way of world ranking points, etc.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Wonderful to see Arjun make the cut in this week's (full) PGA tour event, at Turning Stone Resort, Verona, NY. He was T31 midway through the tournament. The key will be to sustain the form over the weekend (unlike last week on the Nationwide tour). He has started badly today, and is now 2-over par after 3 holes of his third round, and has slipped to T62.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun finished T42, but atleast showed glimses that he is playing back to form.
This week he is playing the Indian Open and a good result on home turf should be a good morale booster to take into the final 3 events on PGA Tour.
Looks like he has to play the qualies to get a Tour card for 2010.
Any idea whether he will have a NW Card for 2010 ?

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
So something to cheer for Arjun.Arjun Atwal - "I have got a medical for next year on PGA tour. That means whatever I played in this year will average out what my status is and based on that I would be given some starts next year, which would come out to be around 10-12 events."

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun At wal is in the field for the LAST tournament of 2009 on the PGA Tour.
Even a second place finish wont secure his card for 2010.
The only way to retain his card is to WIN !!!
AA
2nd place finish will give him top 150 finish and direct entry to Final Qualies and 12-15 tournamnets in 2010....

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun Atwal's effort for winning 2010 PGA card through qualifier tournament started on not so plesant note as he signed off the first day card at 3 over par. He is T83 after the first day. An even par score or better would have been a perfect stat. Well he has lot of rounds to cover the lost ground as like any other qualifier, it's a 6 round tournament. Arjun!

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
The second round was worse as he signed a card of 78 to bring his total to 9 over par. He is near the bottom and it will very tough, if not impossible, to come back from here.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun has let himself down and now has a mountain to climb.
Its not impossible but depends how his mind is after 2 bad days....
He has to shoot low today to give some chance. AA

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Yes, Arjun put himself in difficult position but he has ability to come out of it as still 4 rounds r remaining ... I wish he gives his best and try to get complete tour card.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Is there a cut after 4 rounds?? Arjun will need to repeat his 3rd round performance to make further progress. He is still too far down and need some especial performance to get to his target position.

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
No cut after 4 rounds but Arjun is +9 after 5 rounds and is T129.
Looks like the cards will go to people with -8
So Arjun is 17 shots adrift with one round to go. No card for sure
However, he is playing superb golf in the last round today and is -7 after 11 holes
He has moved to T94 and if he can finish high, it will give him a decent card in the NW Tour...

Re: Arjun Atwal thread
Arjun finished 7-under 65 for the day. Despite that superb round (and an excellent 68 in round 3), Arjun's four bad rounds left him 2-over for the tournament (6 rounds), and he finished T98. The first 28 players received PGA tour cards, I think, so Arjun will have to return to the Nationwide Tour next year.
