Re: Jeev Milkha Singh thread ...

Yes, Jeev is scheduled to play this week in PGA tour in the Wyndham Championship. Even with his injured ankle, he wants to take advantage of his excellent form to deliver some good results. The big question is that after such an absorbing tournament and a win behind his back just two weeks back, will Jeev be able to motivate himself? Without giving time to sink in his recent successes, will he be able to hold his focus? The good thing about Jeev is that he takes any result, good or bad, in his stride and moves on. Only few people can do that. Come Thursday and Jeev will be in good frame of mind. But the next question is whether his ankle will support him for four days of golf?

Exactly Ajay, I m also worrying about that part ... But at least he is already planned minimum 2 weeks which can be extend upto 4 weeks break from golf.

Yesterday's top-10 finish at 90th PGA Championship helped Jeev to back in top-60 WGR ... He is on #59 ... Go Jeev.

In this interview Jeev discussed about cutting down the number of events he is participating ... Now he will more concentrate on those tournaments which will give him higher world ranking points ... I think this is good decision as here we were discussing about his unnecessary busy schedule.

Jeev is aiming for top-10 WGR ... Good to see he is setting higher aim ... Go Jeev.

Jeev won prestigious Singapore Open, richest tournament on the Asian tour ... This was Jeev's sixth Asian Tour victory, worth US$792,500, raised his Asian Tour season's tally to US$1.4 million ... Jeev also made history by becoming the first player to surpass US$1 million in earnings in a single season of Asian tour ... Jeev is in position to win the Asian Tour's Order of Merit second time in 3 years where he leads Mark Brown by US$655,000.

With this win Jeev will re-enter into the world's top-50 with his third win of the season, which will come with an invitation for the US Masters and World Championships ... Jeev is already exempt in the other three Majors through his finish in Europe (12th on 2008 European Tour Order of Merit) ... Jeev is in position to win the Asian Tour's Order of Merit second time in 3 years where he leads Mark Brown by US$655,000.

Fantastic victory for Jeev Milkha Singh!

To have beaten off Padraig Harrington, the winner of the last two golf majors of this year (the British Open and the PGA Championship) and the golfing great Ernie Els is a stupendous achievement -- especially as Jeev performed so superbly in the final round, when it mattered most. And of course, another all-time golf great, Phil Mickelson, was further down the leaderboard too...

So, 2008 has turned out to be another excellent year for Jeev, second only to 2006. He won once each on the EPGA (the BankAustria Open in June), the Sega Sammy Cup on the JPGA (in July) and now the Barclays Singapore Open on the APGA. The Singapore Open was his most lucrative title this year (in a US$5m event, versus about US$1.5mn for each of the other two); in fact, the Volvo Masters (at Valderamma) carries a purse of Euro4.25m (slightly higher than the Singapore Open at current exchange rates), implying that that is still Jeev's most lucrative career title. I hope he now tops it off with a Major -- ideally at the British Open! Go Jeev!

Jeev finished 11th in the UBS Hong Kong Open -- a pretty decent result in another big-money event the week after the victory in the lucrative Singapore Open.

Jeev plays with Jyoti this week and believe it or not goes to Japan to play another event next week.
This guy just does not know how to spend time at home or holidaying.
I am sure he wil play the season ending event - Volvo Masters of Asia on The Asian Tour a week later again.
That will take him to 21st December.
Hopefully he will have couple of weeks off as he has play again in Jan-09 for Asia in the Royal Trophy.
Hats off to Jeev's stamina on the Tour. :notworthy:

Remarkable performance by Jeev to win the season-ending event in the JPGA for the second time in his career (following his title triumph in 2006). This is a terrific achievement, all the more so in light of the recent tragedy that befell him and his wife:
