Grass ATP /Challengers tournaments 2025

Post by PKBasu »

The UK is geographically part of Europe, but politically not. So, rather than start a UK Challengers thread, I thought it best to start one for all Grass Challengers, to distinguish them from the mainly clay (and occasionally hard court) European Challengers. We start with:

Birmingham Challenger

[R1] Rithvik Bollipalli/Nicolas Barrientos (IND/VEN) d. Cleeve Harper/Ryan Seggerman (USA/CAN) 76(4) 64

[R1] N.Vijay Sundar Prashanth/S. Martos Gornes (IND/ESP) l. Brandon Holt/Tristan Schoolkate (AUS/USA) 67(15) 46

Sportzone was so good. I miss the good old days. Even TennisTV doesn’t stream doubles matches for ATP 250 events.

This site does have live streaming-

https://en54.sportplus.live/tennis/

It is unofficial though. For official streaming, I guess you have to subscribe to Tennis TV.

9 out of our top 10 doubles are playing on grass this week ( except Arjun Kadhe who is injured) in ATP / challenger events.

Our top 4 ( Yuki, Rohan, Balaji and Rithvik) are playing ATP events with their respective partners. Yuki and Balaji lost in first round at Stuttgart ATP ( Yuki in 2 tiebreaks and Balaji in 3 sets), Rithvik lost in straight sets 's-Hertogenbosch ATP 1st round.

Next 5 are playing at Ilkley Challenger 125. RamK-Anirudh and Niki-Jeevan are playing together while VSP playing with Martos Gornes.

Both our all Indian pairs won their first round matches to get to QF but VSP/Gornes who were second seeds lost in first round. Apart from that Divij Sharan appeared suddenly as alternate along with Kukushkin and they won their first round match.

So, we have 3 pairs left their with Indian interest in QF.

Bops/Gille had 2 good wins in a row to qualify for the Queens Main Draw this week.

R1 Qual. Bops/Gille d Bhambri/Galloway 6-2 7-6.
R2 Qual. Bops/Gille d Evans/Searle 6-4 7-5.

In the Main Draw R1 , they face Rune/Lehechka today.

Bops/Gille shaping up well , hope they capitalise on the Favourable draw and win a couple of rounds.

Yuki/Galloway lost 64 16 8-10 in the first round against Frtiz/Lehechka. Like clay season, this pair has not started grass season well. Hope they do better in next 2 week and particularly at Wimbledon.

I presume Arjun Kadhe is going to play a few months with a protected ranking. He is currently ranked 114, but he was 76 in October 2024, so presumably something close to that would be his protected ranking. I hope he turns up to play a grass tournament somewhere next week.
