How’s her shot making? Maaya has really good shot making just hasn’t been able to grind out victories yet. Saw her at the US Open dictate the first set against the 2nd seed Klugman at Armstrong but couldn’t close the deal after that.

At the J100 in New Delhi, the top two seeds were given a terrific fight by two young wildcards:

[R1] 1-Albina Kakenova (KAZ, 207j) d. WC-Vaishnavi Singh (IND, UNR) 75 64
[R1] 2-Diya Ramesh Ramesh (IND, 212j) d. WC-Shreeniti Chowdhury (IND, 1690j) 75 67(2) 64

Shreeniti is 14, Diya is 16. Albina is 17, Vaishnavi is 15.

But most exciting is this 13 year old Indian girl:
[R1] SE-Jensi Dipakbhai Kanabar (IND, 1810j) d. 7-Radmila Rakhmatullina (RUS, 393j) 63 62

Wow, that New Delhi J100 is turning out to be super exciting! Those young wildcards really shook things up—Vaishnavi and Shreeniti put up solid fights against top seeds, and at 14 and 16, that’s seriously impressive.

She has a tough match-up in the SF against 14 year old Indian American Anya Arora who is among top 10 under 14 year olds in terms of UTR in the world . This week in J100 in Pune, boys title went to 17 year old Gautam Venkarraman, first time heard of him, he is an NRI and will be turning 18 this month and ending his junior career. He trains at Sascha Nensel Academy in Germany. So, seems to have a good support system and hope is a late bloomer.

Girls title went to Kazak top seed who had lost to Jensi Kanbar in last 2 weeks ( Jensi not playing this week). Second seed Diya Ramesh made the final where she lost to top seeded Kazak.
