Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
[R2] 5-Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi (IND, 65j) d. Eva-Marie Desvignes (FRA, 257j) 63 62
The seedings were based on last week's rankings. Based on current rankings, Maaya is the second-highest ranked player in the field. If she stays injury-free, I don't think anyone can stop her this week. I'm worried that she is playing both singles and doubles, though. (The top seed in singles conceded in R2; perhaps looking to fly to Melbourne for the AO, as she is ranked 35j?).

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
^^^ And Maaya is the only seed who reached even the QF. Everybody else lost or retired. Hopefully she has enough left in the tank to win two more and move up close to #45 and say bye bye to lower junior tour below J500s, as she will ranked high enough to make the remaining grand slams. She should only play those and maybe 3 or 4 selected J500s leading to the GS juniors. She can focus on training in Spain and playing pro events. Go Maaya.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
I am hoping Maaya will play the W75 in Pune week after next. Hopefully she will get a wildcard into the main draw. If not, it may not be a bad idea for her to play the qualifiers, although I worry about too many matches for the youngster.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Very poor show by the boys. No Indian made even the QF in singles. Particularly disappointed by Hitesh Chauhan (who was seeded 3rd). It is not much compensation that there will be a single Indian (half a pair) in the boys' doubles final.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Maaya continues to roll and takes her winning streak to 8 but with a 3 set 2-6 6-2 6-4 win in the QF at Chandigarh against a Ukranian qualifier.
So, maybe she is getting tired now. She played a long double match later where they lost 11-13 in super tie breaker in the SF.
Interstingly, Maaya plays her doubles partner Russian Polina Kuharenko in the SF. This could be a tough match I guess.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Sure enough, Maaya lost today in straight sets to her doubles partner Polina
So, out in the SF in both singles and doubles this week in Chandigarh. May have to wait a bit longer to reach top-50 in the rankings and automatically get into junior Slam main draws. Meanwhile, the player she beat in the final last week in New Delhi, Eleejah Inisan, is playing at the Aus Open juniors tomorrow.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
I guess Maaya will be tired playing 9th match in 11 days. Anyway, Maaya will move up to inside top 55 with this week's performance. This may actually enough to get into some of the grand slam junior main draw, may need to move up a few more spots to make it in some others.
I think she will play a few J500's/ 300's to get those extra 60-70 net points to make it to top 50 and make it absolutely certain.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
No idea. I see her name in the alternate list of W75 in Pune next week. I guess it will be worth giving her qualifying wild card for that.
In the meantime, in this week's J200 in Kolkata, 10 Indians are in the boys main draw with Hitesh Chauhan being second seed and Arnav Paparkar 8th seed. 10 girls are also there in girls singles draw with Rishitha Reddy Basireddy being the only seed (4th).

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
HUGE upset at J200 Kolkata where 17 yo qualifier Kandhavel Mahalingam Akilandeshwari (ITFj- 323, UTR-11.33) beat the top seed D Hwang (ITFj-25, UTR-12.xx) 6-1 3-1 when the Korean decided to call it quits. Worth mentioning that D Hwang won 2 titles leading up to this tournament (J300 Delhi and J200 Chandigarh) that might explain the retirement but still a commendable win for KMA
.
In R2, KMA plays another 17 yo Mexican, Oswaldo Alejandro Reyes Tirado (ITFj-192, UTR-11.69)

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
(Please see my interview with her coach, in her own thread here, after she won the J300 title in New Delhi). She will mainly be playing pro tournaments now -- W25s preferably, but higher level if nothing else is available. The focus will also be on the junior Slams. I think her junior ranking will be close to where it needs to be (around 50) to get into the junior Slam main draws.
