ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
The usual high level early ITF junior tournaments begins from Monday. And this time there has been an upgradation in tournaments. Till last year there was a J100 in Chandigarh and couple of J200's in New Delhi and Kolkata. Now, Delhi tournament is upgraded to J300 which is just one level below slams and Chandigarh is upgraded to J200.
It starts with J300 in Delhi on Monday. Qualifying got done over the weekend and the only Indian who qualified was third seed Sahaj Singh Pawar in boys singles. 14 year old Hruthik Katakam did well to get to final qualifying round but lost against third seeded Japanese there.
In main draw among boys, Rethin Pranav is top seed and Hitesh Chauhan is 6th seed. Don't know why Kriish Tyagi is skipping this. He would have been top seed in main draw. Overall there are 11 Indians in the boys singles main draw. There are only 6 Indians in girls singles main draw and none of them is a seed. Of course, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi is there and she has got 4th seed Ada Kumru (TUR,74) in first round itself and hope she pulls of an upset.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
^^^ I believe the junior slams are 1000 point events. There are also the 500 point events which are bigger than the 300 point event in Delhi.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
^^^ Yes, you are correct, there are J500's which are about 7-8 in a year I think which are next to 4 slams. And these J300's which are about 15 or so in a year. But, still if any of the Indians can win a title or even gets to a final, those points will be big in terms of ranking boost.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Nice to see 4 upsets, and all in straight sets!
#139 Arnav Paparkar upset 5th seed #89 Yilmaz, 61 64
#168 Varun Verma upset the 7th seed #100 Maltsev, 75 75
Wildcard #280 Samarth Sahita upset #179 Aikhunov, 61 64
Wildcard #357 Aishwarya Jadhav upset #215 Koreshkova, 62 63
The two Indian seeds who played, #1 Rethin Sethilkumar, #6 Hitesh Chauhan, won in straight sets too.
#156 Rishitha Basireddy, who had won the J60/J100/J100 series in India in Nov/Dec, extended her winning streak to 16 in a row, with a 76(4) 63 win over #327 Koryzheva.
So, an excellent start in Delhi by our kids.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Maaya upset the 4th seeded Turkish player as expected 6-1 7-6 (1)
No other Indian won in singles on Tuesday. Shockingly, top seeded boys Rethin/Donghyun lost to an unseeded team 0-6 2-6. This rarely happens at the Junior level since the seeded players are generally quite good but seems like they ran into the best unseeded team.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
3 boys made it to the QF with Samarth Sahita beating Varun Verma in an all Indian match-up, Rethin winning his match in straight sets and Arnav beating Goren Ivanisevic's son in 3 sets while Hitesh Chauhan lost in 3 sets.
In girls, Maaya beats French qualifier Manon Favier 60 63.
Our QF match-ups-
[QF] (1) Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar (IND,36) vs. (WC) Samarth Sahita (IND,280)
[QF] Arnav Paparkar (IND,139) vs. Donghyun Hwang (KOR,73)
[QF] Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi (IND,139) vs. (7) Rada Zolotareva (RUS,73)
The Russian girl beat Sahaja in Dubai W100 in December. So, this will be a tough match for Maaya.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
I think Rethin Pranav is defending 100 points each over the next two weeks, so great to see him defend some of those points. A title (and the 300 points) will really help him move up in the rankings. Good luck to him!

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Yes, a very good win against a player ranked 710 in WTA rankings.
Rethin also won his match in 3 sets against Samarth while Arnav lost in 3 sets against Korean.
[QF] (1) Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar (IND,36) d. (WC) Samarth Sahita (IND,280) 63 36 64
[QF] Arnav Paparkar (IND,139) l. Donghyun Hwang (KOR,73) 46 64 75
[QF] Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi (IND,139) d. (7) Rada Zolotareva (RUS,73) 63 10 retd.
Both Arnav and Samarth have 2 years eligibility in juniors. So, that is a good point boost for both. Arnav will move to around 110 and Samarth close to top 200.
Next,
[SF] (1) Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar (IND,36) vs. Donghyun Hwang (KOR,73)
Rethin has 0-2 head to head against Hwang and lost to him at the same tournament in Delhi 2 weeks back. Hope Rethin can turn the tables this time.
[SF] Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi (IND,139) vs. (2) Eleejah Inisan (FRA,56)
Maaya lost to Eleejah in 3 sets in Mexico in late November. Hope in Delhi she can prevail.
Rethin also won his match in 3 sets against Samarth while Arnav lost in 3 sets against Korean.
[QF] (1) Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar (IND,36) d. (WC) Samarth Sahita (IND,280) 63 36 64

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
Terrific that Maaya is in the semifinal. I think her close loss to Inisan in Mexico was on clay...
Rethin keeps rolling too. Surprised at how well Samarth did against him though.

Re: ITF Junior Circuit India 2025
^^^Hope that means that Samarth is a really good prospect rather than Rethin stagnating somewhat after doing very well over the last few months. Good luck to both Indians in the SFs.
