Not elementary my dear Watson, this is the standard Davis Cup procedure.
On the Draw date a DC cup board is prepared with drawn players names put up.
Saw it in Sweden the same design board where a young kid drew out thr names , and the drawn names were pasted and this layout is a standard of DC which has been there since the 80's ever since World Group's came into being replacing the Zonals format.

^^Sherlock sir, are you saying that literally a strip of paper is pulled out and glued on to a board? That’s good to know. I thought it’d all be electronic now. Thanks for informing me.

Is beating a Togo player such a big deal? To what level have we come down? For a team that used to beat the likes of France and Australia we are celebrating wins over Togo.

This is a ridiculous celebratory statement. I mean, come on now. Have some self esteem. Beating someone from Togo is amazing for RR? This shows he is getting back to his best?

Listen to the above audio. Anand Amritraj himself said Ramkumar Ramanathan was spectacular.

I hope we know the legendary stature of Anand.

These are the results one shouldn't be excited about and just be treated as a normal workout.

Frankly seeing random regular losses against 700 to 1000 ranked opponents by our guys in the past couple of years had a fear that we could be even love two down considering it was Davis Cup and the opponents had won their last 10 matches. Even Vijay before the start felt that 4-1 could be final result and that 1 loss indicated that love 2 fears were not unfounded and were lurking.

Anyway now after this workout the real test starts next week when the Challengers commence which will determine the true level of the standard reached .

Good job by Mukund and Ram today! Go India!

... But those TV comments make me cringe. "Nobody expected this"?? Come on!

"There were worries that Togo could be better than expected and that we might not be motivated to try and dominate them, but we did our job like we should expect at home" would be the right comment.
