10 points earned so far , a win tomorrow will get him 20 points and R1 entry another 10 , so potentially Ram looking at total 40 points.
Yeah, a great decision to go there!

The points will be 30 for making the first round. The 20 for Q2 is the total from qualies. 20+10... He needs some points badly though. I think 25 points fall off in 4 weeks, and then 50 more in early December.

Yes Jay you are right and thanks for the points clarification , points dropping off like you it is also in my watch list , and as per the schedule he plays 2 more Challengers in China ( Hangzhou & Shenzhen) and lets see , then there are 3x25's in India , so has ample opportunities to cover up the deficit and with a game like today there is a high chance to save those points from the available schedule.

In todays match according to Ram the Frenchman was also playing awesome Tennis , getting and creating angles with his power shots , but Ram with a much better play on this day than the Frenchman , had the last word.

10 points earned so far , a win tomorrow will get him 20 points and R1 entry another 10 , so potentially Ram looking at total 40 points.

Didn't know you were so close to Ram. Missed it!

Ram continuing from yesterday , with great booming serving and low bending volleys , gets the break and will serve for a 4-2 lead.

Ram is taking power hitting to a new level , a Double Handled thundering BH to make love 15 , followed by a even stronger FH cross court for love 30 and that induce UFE's in the Chinese to give Ram a double break 5-2 , and serving for the set now .

And duly takes the first set at 2 with a clinical display of thundering serves , which included 5 aces and equal number of service winners combined with power hitting and precision volleying.

a powerful FH didn't give Sun time to react and nets the ball for 30 all on his serve.
a blistering FH on Suns BH which even attracted ohhh's form the crowd , gave Ram a BP and the ensuing point follows with a power FH to leave Sun motion less and gets the all important break in the second set.

and holds with a beautiful constructed point mixed with deep cross courts and over head smash to finish it for a 3-1 lead in the second set.

Yes he has done it , and in to the MD with straight sets 2 & 4 win.

This is the new Ram we are seeing , .. at 2-3 when he got broken to lose the advantage , comparing with his recent play he would normally again loose serves and let slip the advantage , but here when he was broken , he immediately broke back in the 7th game , to regain his advantage and played smart Tennis to hold on and finish the match.

And just for the record in todays match Ram blasted 16 aces which also included a high number of service winners , such was his power serving today combined with thunderous blasting shots on both the flanks.

Hope he gets a good draw in the MD to continue his excellent playing form.

Excellent run to the main draw of a masters by RamK out of nowhere. 30 points assured now which will take him around #290 in the rankings, going to top 300 after almost 2 years.

Also $23,250 in prize money which is close to total prize money he has earned in singles this year.

Ramkumar is a confidence player, who gains oxygen from large crowds -- whether they are supporting him or not. I was sure he would win comfortably today, and that's how it turned out, despite being broken at 3-2 in the second set. He immediately broke back (despite conceding a couple of break points along the way). In the end, a comprehensive win over a local who beat the former world #12 Borna Coric (who is still only 27yo and is ranked 98) in the previous round.

Ramkumar clearly gained in confidence with each win. Today, he had 16 aces to just one double-fault, and first serve percentage was 68% (vs 57% yesterday IIRC). When he is serving like that, Ramkumar is difficult to stop. Onward and upward!

Opps PKB you just beat me in posting Ram's opponent.

For a 56 ranked player has reached the QF's only thrice this year and never gone beyond that stage and in the rest of over 25 odd tournaments that he has played has been beaten regularly in 1st or 2nd round, let's see if Ram can cause a upset.

Good chance for Ramkumar to pull an upset, especially as he will be match-sharp after two good matches in the past two days. But I would have preferred him to have played R1 on Thursday instead of tomorrow.
