Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Saved a BP and held with a service winner that Rune netted. 2-2 in the 3rd.
Sumit gets broken at love at 2-3 though ... Two errors from him and steady play from Rune. 2-4
Rune took 11 points in a row there before Sumit won a brief rally for a point... Rune holds. 2-5
Won a nice 14 shot rally to get to 40-30, but after a couple of deuces, a mishit brought up match pt, and Rune finished it.
But a good fight from Sumit in a 36 63 26 loss.

I missed the match today but followed his last 2 games. He is definitely playing at a level higher than his ranking. At least on clay. RG should be fun as he would be in the main draw. Today with some luck he may even have pulled one through. Next time!
Sumit is in the Qualies at Munich.

^^^ Actually Sumit has made the main draw at Munich and Bucharest ATP250s but is waiting for Barcelona ATP500 where he is 3rd out now.

Sumit had an outside chance of beating Rune. You just can't go out & beat aTop 10 Player in the 1St Attempt,as you all will agree..
He must now Crawl up or Jump up his Rankings with good steelar performances..His Overall game including placement of Serve Especially will improve with significant amount of Match play with the top 50
..Ground Strokes wise I think he is able to Complete with the Top 20 ..
Looking forward to his Exploits in the Clay Court Season..!!

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Yes, Sumit showed that he can play at a top 30 level on clay. He can probably play at a top 100 level on some of the slower hard courts as well. Given that the clay season is pretty extensive, he has a chance to really move up if he can stay healthy.
Given his high effort style of play, hopefully he plans his schedule to take sufficient breaks especially if he goes deep in the draws. Of course, some breaks can be had by first round losses.

I usually go here - https://www.dartsrankings.com/tennis/
There are probably some other sites too (and some twitter accounts that tweet things out), but this site is quite fast in real-time updating of lists. You can also find individual players' entry schedules there.
Haha. Smartalec... or should I say smartass?

Both would be spot on.
It says Sumit withdrew from Munich Qualifying. He does not have a direct entry nor is he in the alternates list for the main tournament either. He is #14 in the qualifying in Barcelona.

I see that he has withdrawn from Munich and is Alt 22 at Madrid for Main and has acceptance into Qualifying. But who knows, this data keeps changing.

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
^^^ Yeah, I am not sure what is going on. He suddenly disappeared from the Barcelona/Bucharest/Munich lists altogether, like he was never there... And he is listed as withdrawn in the Munich qualifying list too. He decided not to play next week? Why?
