Bopanna/Ebden are at the top of the entry list for the doubles at the Miami Masters this week, and Yuki Bhambri/Michael Venus are also in the doubles draw. (Venus/Jamie Murray had withdrawn, but Venus was able to "re-pair" with Yuki).

Sumit is into Q2 of the men's singles, after this:

With that, Sumit has risen to a career-high of 92 in the men's singles rankings. (He is 2 ahead of Luca Nardi, who is also at his career high, after beating Djokovic at Indian Wells, but losing in successive weeks in India to Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan).

^^^ Technically 92 in live rankings. That can change by the time the ranks get updated in 2 weeks. There are 4 or 5 guys with pretty close point totals just inside top-100 who have won the Q1 at Miami. A win in the Q2 can basically ensure a ranking right around #92 though.

Sumit's match against Wong at 11 am local time i.e 8.30 pm India time.

Sumit took the first set 63 but got broken the second game of the 2nd set. 63 03 now.

Sumit lost the second set 1-6.

Sumit had 2 break points at 4-3 but could not convert. He had 3 game points from 40-15 at 5-5, but got broken at the first BP at ad out there. Coleman Wang throwing in some big serves and aces too. 63 16 56 and facing serve ... Sumit forced yet another BP at 30-40 but Wang won the next three points to take the match. 63 16 57

Ok so now that he has lost, what are the chances of getting in as lucky loser again?

When Sumit took the first set, thought it would follow the same pattern as in India where Sumit came out in the top.But sadly it didnt turn out as expected.

However the loss was to Coleman the player I am following with the same zeal as our guys.

Mr Wong showed variety in his game , and always threatened Sumit with powerfull approach shots,came to the net often whereas Sumit conducted his business camped at the baseline, without any change in statergy , infact the 4 or 5 times Coleman broke Sumit where he ruthlesly attacked and pouncing on Sumit's weak 2nd serve .

With a string of Masters/500/250 talking place in China where he is sure to find a place just as he found in Miami, the future looks bright for the 19 year old Coleman Wong and is now at a CH of 193 in live rankings.

Ok so now that he has lost, what are the chances of getting in as lucky loser again?

Between infinitesimal and none. He will be at least 4th or 5th in the LL waiting list, probably. If there is a withdrawal since the draw was made but before qualifying gets completed today, there is some random chance. After the qualifying matches are over, there is no chance for 4-5 withdrawals to get him a spot from the waiting queue.

He should take off to Italy and get ready early for the clay challenger in Naples next week (I believe he will be a top-4 seed).

Definitely poor loss for Sumit. At this level, these are about as winnable a match as you can get. That said, Sumit isn't a player with particularly strong weapons, so someone in the 200-300 range playing at their best can easily beat Sumit (even if he is playing at his level) which is what may have happened this week (and in IW).

Yes, Coleman Wang appeared to be in great form since the start of second set. Blasted 16 aces and was hitting aggressively on Sumit second serves too.

Btw, lots of higher ranked players lost in Q2. So, Sumit is only 6th in queue for lucky loser spot. That many withdrawals not possible.

Agree.
He messed up here. He had it in the bag, a very winnable match and he could have gotten some ATP points also. His play has been very good for many weeks but maybe we are seeing a dip here? Hope he does well in Naples.

Bops and Ebden had a comeback win in first round in Miami while Yuki and Venus lost against second seeds.
