And Lakshya Sen enters the semi final beating LZJ 20-22, 21-16, 21-19 in a close match. That should almost seal his place for Paris.

It is one of the most unexpected SF line ups in mens singles at All England with world #5, #9, #18 and #24 getting into semis. Lakshya can go all the way and win it all if he plays like he has for last 2 weeks. The only thing which is a bit of doubt is if fatigue will kick in. He has played 6 matches lasting 3 games in last 10 days. Jonathan Chritsie got a walkover after winning the first game yesterday. So, he would be fresher.

The thing I feared happened and Laskhya lost in 3 games looking a bit tired in third game. He lost 12-21 21-10 15-21.

Anyway, great couple of weeks for him making back to back SF's in 2 of the toughest events on tour with everyone playing. That coming after a miserable 3-11 streak over the previous 11 tournaments is good news for our olympic medal chances.

Now waiting for Prannoy to get back to his last year's form.

Matters less than WS but you want to avoid getting unlucky and having to beat Vitidsarn and Axelsen just to reach the semifinals. Top-8 ensures you don't meet them before the quarters and have some hopes of drawing a waning CTC, Singaporean Yew etc who are more beatable.

In terms of the current Olympic standings, I would put the top-11 and Lakshya a level above the rest. The two Chinese are also very good and belong in the same category but they obviously won't make it because of the country restrictions. So all said, I think there are about 15-16 players who can all beat each other on a good day, but only 12 or so of them will be in Paris.

In WS, it is paramount. I don't think PVS has any hopes with a 9-16 seeding.

Only benefit would be avoiding #1 Axelson until QF. Otherwise, the rest are beatable if Lakshya or Prannoy are in form.

Anyway, as of now Lakshya is in entry list both 300 tournaments in next 2 weeks - Swiss open and Spain masters. With his deep run and long matches in these 2 weeks it will be tiresome to play both those tournaments.

I think he should skip Swiss open next week and play Spain masters and than Asian individual championships before qualification window.

As many as 4 Indians are in the second round of the Swiss Masters Men’s singles draw. Priyanshu upset #14 in the first round. PVS too!

PVS won her first-round match too and meets Tomoka Miyazaki in the next round. Srikanth, Lakshya and, Kiran George also won their 1st round matches.

Priyanshu had the best win over world #14, Srikanth and Kiran Gerorge had wins over slightly higher ranked players. Other wins were over lower ranked players/teams. Still a very satisfying day.

So, we 4 in second round in mens singles- Lakshya, Srikanth, Priyanshu and Kiran Gerorge. Srikanth plays top seed Lee Zi Jia from Malaysia, Priyanshu plays someone ranked just 1 place below him. Lakshya and Kiran play lower ranked players. Should get 2 in QF, 3 will be great.

Only Sindhu in womens singles and she plays junior world champion Miyazaki from Japan.

We have none in mens doubles, We have pairs in last 16 in womens doubles, Tresa-Gayatri play another Indian pair Priya-Shruti while Tanisha-Ashwini play a 30th ranked Japanese pair.

In mixed doubles, we have 2 pairs- Sumeeth-Sikki Reddy and Sathish Karunakaran-Adya in last 16.

Rajawat moves to the QF with a straight game win. PVS, on the other hand, loses in 3 games after winning the first one.

Lakshya Sen also lost in straight games, looks like efforts of last 2 weeks caught up with him, that is why I said he should taken a break this week and played next week.

But, couple of very good wins by Srikanth over 10th ranked Zia Jie Lee and Kiran George over talented Frenchman. So, we have 3 Indians in the mens singles QF.

Priyanshu against 15th ranked Taiwanese Chou Tien Chen, Shrikanth against 34th ranked Taiwanese and Kiran George against 28th ranked Frenchman Ramus Gemke.

Only Tresa-Gayatri left in doubles and they will be up against 33rd ranked Australian pair.
