Hockey at Paris Olympics 2024

Post by sameerph »

Pools have been made for the Paris Olympics and they are as under-

Pool A: Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, France and South Africa

Pool B: Belgium, India, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and Ireland

So, we are in the pool where both Belgium and Australia are there whom we have struggled to beat in recent times. In a way it is good as 4 teams will go thru to the QF's and if we can beat Argentina and New Zealand or at least 1 of them and of course Ireland, we are likely to meet Netherland or Germany in QF, better than playing Belgium or Australia in a knock out match I think.

Hopefully we can get top 4 in our group ;)
Then we need to run into Spain or GB. The latter are very tough to beat, so I think a QF loss is the most likely outcome. We have wasted 2 years playing the same old failures. In fact, we've dropped good prospects like Karthi Selvan and Dilpreet. Just like the women, we will underperform due to maddening decisions off the pitch. On the pitch we can't expect a miracle with 4-5 really weak players.
