T20 World Cup, W.Indies/USA 2024
Well, the morning after is the perfect time to start the journey to the next goal: the T20 World Cup in Canada and USA. We will get the home crowds but perhaps not the home groundsfolks.
I hope anyone who has played more than 50 matches is automatically out of the team now. We need to really give the youngsters a long run. Then, maybe six months before the cup, we can decide if the youngsters have not performed and can bring in the proven performers. That will give us the best information. And, as we saw, teams that make decisions based on cold calculations and not the I-think-XYZ-is great or that ABC-is-a-superstar-how-can-you-drop-him will win. Of course, talent and systems matter too.

Re: T20 World Cup, West Indies and USA 2024
The T20I world cup isn't in Canada and the US, it is mainly in the West Indies -- plus 3 venues in the US (zero in Canada). Please change the name of the thread accordingly.

Sorry, my bad. You are, of course, right PKB. I tried to fix it here but it possibly only fixes things for this post since I cannot edit the original post anymore. A kind moderator may need to help out with respect changing it globally.

Are matches there in Canada or not ? Your latest post you edited and put West Indies, Canada, USA. Is it that or only West Indies and USA ?

Sorry, no Canada. Must have been a brain fade where instead of West Indies, U.S.A., I typed Canada, U.S.A. Apologies to everyone.

Nice article that compares different opening options. Considering the slow track of WI, Gaikwad / Jaiswal may not be a bad pairing. Very likely Gill/ Jaiswal . Wondering if Jaiswal would even be successful on this pitches .
Again Harshal Patel may not be a bad choice considering his all round skills and ability on slow tracks to get wickets.

Re: T20 World Cup, W.Indies/USA 2024
Here is the record of our spinners in the last 3 years.
Basically, no bowler is consistently putting their hands up. I'd say let us try Sai Kishore. Nothing to lose. Bishnoi has done pretty well. Axar gets wickets but also gets hit at times. Sundar is tighter but never gets wickets it seems. Jadeja is fine. Ashwin, interestingly is better! Did not expect that.
It seems that our best T20 bowlers are almost our best Test bowlers! Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, Ashwin, Jadeja ...
Sorted by runs/over. Our best has been Kuldeep. Varun has also been tight but at 66 runs/wicket, he basically sets up the other team to beat up on the end over bowlers by not taking wickets. Not a good idea. Interesting Ashwin and Jadeja have bowled better than any of the others who come after them.DJ Hooda 2022-2023 21 8 15.5 0 76 6 4/10 12.66 4.80 15.8 1 0 investigate this query

Good to see ICC giving T20 as route to globalization in cricket.

Ok. My day of shame is back. I don't know why the Canada error is back again but I am trying to fix it again. A kind moderator perhaps has to do some magic such that the fictitious Canada WC does not reemerge. Sorry for the error and thanks again to the fabulous mods.

Answering Kumar's question about whether I want Dube, who is a slow starter. Generally no. But, if we have to have a sixth bowler, then I would indeed consider him seriously. The question is really whether we want a sixth bowler. Even if our bowlers are getting hit, the management keeps going back to the person who is getting hit. If Hardik is not fit, I would want Dube in that slot.
