Re: BWF tournaments Oct/Nov 2023
Denmark Open starts tomorrow.
No Prannoy as mentioned. Dhruv/Arjun pair is again injured.
Unfortunately Priyanshu and Treesa/Gayatri are also late withdrawals.
Decent draws for Lakshya and Srikanth - first rounds against lower ranked opponents (though in Srikanth's case, it is 20 vs 21) and low seeds slated in Round 2.
Same for Sindhu as well and with Yamaguchi's withdrawal, she has chances to get to the last 4.

Looks like Priyanshu and Tresa-Gayatri may be also injured. Otherwise, no reason for them to withdraw from these important tournaments. Priyanshu was not there even in Asian games.

Satwik/Chirag gave a walkover as well. PVS and Aakarshi won in 3, Srikanth lost in 3.

Haha.
Lakshya lost 16-21 18-21. That is bad loss. I watched some part of the match and he was making bad errors, just not in the game.

PVS making the most of an easier draw and beat #7 Tunjung to enter the last 4. Semifinals will be against the winner of TTY and Marin, two of her generation counterparts that she has always struggled against.

Re: BWF tournaments Oct/Nov 2023
Back to back SF weeks for Sindhu after a long time and BWF 750 level SF for her after long time. Good indication that some of the form is back.
Up against Marin next. Repeat of 2016 Rio olympics final.

^^that both are playing seven years after that Rio final is amazing. Badminton requires supreme fitness. I think it’s one of the most demanding games from a fitness point of view. Good luck to PVS.

Re: BWF tournaments Oct/Nov 2023
Seems like PVS is back in form. Hopefully, she keeps grinding QF and SF. She needs that top 8 seed for olympics as it will make her life easy till QF in Paris. Then she can hope for favourable draws in QF. If luck is on her side she can win bronze medal. I don't see her winning anything above that.

Re: BWF tournaments Oct/Nov 2023
Agree with the above.
PVS needs to get a top-8 seeding and some confidence that she can beat top-5 players again going into Paris.
If she can do that, she will be a long shot for a bronze medal again.

Well, TTY is her worst matchup. Historically, TTY is 5-19, for a -14. The next worst is An Se-Young 0-6. Whereas Marin is 6-10 for a -4. I'll take that. On an inspire day, she can beat Marin. Don't know about Marin's recent form though.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 1:57 pm PVS making the most of an easier draw and beat #7 Tunjung to enter the last 4. TTY is retiring at the end of the year so we don’t need to worry about her anymore.prasen9 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:32 amWell, TTY is her worst matchup. Historically, TTY is 5-19, for a -14. PVS is not beating ASY, and even Akane will be tough for her.
Realistically her medal route will be to beat someone like Tunjung (which she hasn’t in recent times), and someone like a Yufei or a Marin.
Anyways PVS matched Carolina for the first 2 games before collapsing in the decider.
