National Games 2023 scheduled to be held in Goa from Oct. 26 to Nov. 9

This will be the first time Goa will host the National Games. Goa was awarded the hosting rights for the 36th edition, initially scheduled for 2016. However, after multiple postponements, the marquee event was hosted by Gujarat last year.

Multiple venues throughout Goa will host the various competitions. Cycling and golf, however, will be held in New Delhi.

Over 10,000 athletes are expected to participate at the National Games 2023.

Cue sports — billiards and snooker — will make its debut at the 37th National Games in Goa from October 26 to November 9.

Billiards and Snooker Federation of India president S Balasubramaniam confirmed that five gold medals would be on offer at the Games. 

“Due to the efforts of BSFI and our vice-president in Goa, Sunil Morajkar, with the Goa Olympic Association, we were able to get the sport included,” Bala said.

Besides cue sports, beach football, roll ball, sepaktakraw, sqay martial arts, kalaripayatu and pencak silat are the other disciplines that have been included.

^^ Horrible. How can there be any national games without volleyball? That is like not having 100m sprint or Marathon. Basic events that just have to be there.

Shame that our Volleyball is disorganized even in National games. There is a reason Pak volleyball does better than India as of now. Figured they have a Brazilian coach from their sports forum. Just imagine bug nation hired a decent coach even when its economy is in tatters.

They haven’t won an Olympic medal in ages, could barely win a medal here and there at the Asian level . Yes, our VBall federation is a mess but if they get their act together I hope they focus on beating someone better than that purposeless country.

Goa’s badminton teams show grit in National Games, miss out on medals


Goa’s men’s and women’s badminton teams put up a spirited performance at the 37th National Games, held at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, on Friday. Despite their best efforts, both teams narrowly missed out on a spot on the medals podium. In a nail-biting final round-robin clash, both teams needed a win to secure the coveted bronze medal in their respective groups. With a strong contingent of supporters cheering from the stands, the men’s team faced the formidable Assam team, and the women’s team had the daunting task of taking on Maharashtra.

Assam women reach final in 37th National Games



Assam women badminton team made it to the final in the 37th National Games as they beat Andhra Pradesh by 3-2 in their second group match at Panaji today. However, the men’s team, after losing to Maharashtra 2-3 yesterday, beat Goa by 4-1 in second group match to win bronze medal.

The women’s team will face Maharashtra in the final.
