BWF World Championships 2023, Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 21st-27th 2023
Draw is out today. We have 3 MS playing. Not sure why 28th ranked Priyanshu is not included in draw when it contains 64 entries for 1st round. Is it again the representation for all countries thing? China is playing with 4 MS players...but India has only 3 Ms.
Anyways here is draw :

Re: BWF World Championships 2023, Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 21st-27th 2023
From I understand from qualification rules-
Nation which has at least 1 player in top 8 are eligible to select 4 players provided they fit within top 64 ranked players who are eligible considering this criteria. Nations which has a player ranked between 9 to 16 are eligible for 3.
So, we do not have anyone in top 8, so, we are eligible for maximum 3 players. China is the only nation with 4 representatives in mens singles, India, Japan and Denmark are with 3.

Srikanth has to play Nishimoto again in the first round. Prannoy and Lakshya have pretty kind draws until R3 and also winnable Round-3 matches.
PVS will have Okuhara in Round 2 and Rat in Round 3, I don't see a long run from her.
Satwik/Chirag are in the easier half of the draw.
Treesa/Gayatri unfortunately have the top seeds in round 3.

Today Lakhsya against 51st ranked Korean Hyeok Jin Jeon, Prannoy against 21st ranked Indonesia Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo ( tricky match), Sindhu vs. Ocukara - 19th match between them but both are on downward spiral as of now and 2 mixed doubles /womens doubles matches where we do not have much chance.

Re: BWF World Championships 2023, Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 21st-27th 2023
Sindhu lost 14-21 14-21 against Okuhara, identical scoreline by which Srikanth lost against another Japanese. Watched the match and it was sad to see Sindhu playing so badly with lots of errors at the world championships where she used to do so well. It seemed like fizz in her game is totally gone.
On the other hand, Prannoy played really well to thrash 21st ranked Indonesiaan Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-9 21-17, a match I though would be tricky.
Lakhshya also came thru with an easier than expected 21-11 21-12 win.

Re: BWF World Championships 2023, Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 21st-27th 2023
Today only our 2 doubles teams players their second round matches- Satwik-Chirag and Tresa-Gayatri and both won their matches confortably.
So, we have 2 in mens singles, 1 in mens doubles and 1 in womens doubles in PQF.
[PQF] (11) Lakshya Sen (IND,11) vs. (3) Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA,5) - Junior compatriots playing again - head to head 5-4 in favour of Thai player,
[PQF] (9) H.S. Prannoy (IND,9) vs. (7) Loh Kean Yew (SIN,7) - Head to head 3-1 in favour of Prannoy
[PQF] (2) Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy (IND) / Chirag Shetty (IND,2) vs. (10) Daniel Marthin (INA) / Leo Rolly Carnando (INA,10) - Head to head 1-0 in favour of Satwik-Chirag
[PQF] (15) Tresa Jolly (IND) / Gayatri Gopichand Pullela (IND,19) vs. (1) Chen Quing Chen (CHN) / Jia Yi Fan (CHN,1) - Head to head 1-0 in favour of Chinese
Tresa-Gayatri having it very tough against world #1 pair but out of the other 3 I hope at least 2 make it to QF.

Both went to 3 games but Prannoy won and Lakshya lost.
[PQF] (11) Lakshya Sen (IND,11) l. (3) Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA,5) 14-21 21-16 13-21
[PQF] (9) H.S. Prannoy (IND,9) d. (7) Loh Kean Yew (SIN,7) 21-18 15-21 21-19
So, only Prannoy and SatChi left in the QF.
And Prannoy plays world #1 Axelsen in QF on his home turn. So, I guess it is upto Satchi to keep our medal streak at WC intact. They play 11th ranked local pair Astrum and Rasmussen in the QF.

Yeah hopefully SatChi keep our 12 year run intact of medaling at the World Championships or Olympics. Unfortunate draw for Prannoy, I think he would have had chances against everyone else.

SatChi lose 18-21 19-21 against Danish pair who rode on public support.
So, most likely our streak is getting over.

Home support was crucial.
If they had reigned in their errors, they should have had this. Dannes also played a great game.
Close games as the scores suggest.
