Only Manika Batra made it to the last-32. Sharath led 2-0 and but lost 11-13 in the 5th to lose 2-3. Sreeja had one of the games where she led in multiple games but couldn't convert.

Definitely the best win of her career.

I remember seeing a comment from one of the Chinese players after the team championship that the Indians don't fear them anymore, and Manika proved it here. Hopefully she can make the most of the draw opening up and go deep. Next up is WR #14 from Germany.

Yes, top 3 ranked players in the womens world rankings are from China ( in fact 5 out of top 6) and Indians have beaten all those top 3 in last few months. In world team championships, Ayhika beat world #1 Sun Yingsha and Sreeja beat world #3 Wang Yudi and yesterday, Manika Batra beat world #2 Wang Manyu .

If they can get all together on a day at Paris our womens team can spring a surprise, just a hope.

Excellent outing for our new mixed doubles pairing of Harmeet Desai/Yashaswini Ghorpade.

They defeated WR#19 and WR#6 before losing to WR#1. Hope to see more from them in the near future. :goodluck:

There is a new person in Manika's box. I tried google image search but it couldn't identify him.
