BACK TO BACK UPSET BY HARMEET DESAI

After knocked out #1 seed Woojin yesterday, WR 134 Harmeet Desai beat WR 26 Xiang Peng by 3-1 (11-7, 5-11, 11-7, 11-1) in QF of WTT Contender Lagos

To face winner between Ovtcharov vs Chuang TPE in SF.

This must be his best performance yet. Playing as a qualifier and reaching the QFs for the first time at a WTT Contender event.
He backed it up with another victory over the no. 26 making his way into the SFs. He finally lost in the semis.

So Harmeet Desai is now ranked at #77 (not sure if thats his career-high). What a massive jump from #134. He is now the #3 Indian in the latest ITTF world rankings.

Big contingent at WTT Contender Tunis 2023 this week.

Harmeet plays the WR#11 Lim Jonghoon in R1. Sharath and Sathiyan have easier first round.
Manav, Sanil and Manush lost in the qualies. Hugo Calderano is the top seed.

In doubles, Harmeet/Sharath and Manav/Manush are in the main draw.

Manika Batra is playing as well along with Diya Parag Chitale, Sreeja Akula, Ayhika Mukherjee.
They are into the main draw. Miyuu Kihara is the top seed. Diya and Sreeja won all their qualies matches. Ayhika got in as LL.
Reeth Tennison and Sutirtha Mukherjee lost in the qualies.

In doubles, Ayhika/Sutirtha and Sreeja/Diya are in the main draw.

Sathiyan and Manika in the mixed doubles! They are the 3rd seeds.

Last week, he beat WR#12 and WR#26 in Lagos.

What's up with Harmeet? He is surprising us in a good way. He is nearly 30 years old, so he is a late bloomer?
