Roland Garros 2023
Ankita Raina is our sole singles competitor at the RG this year.
Bopanna/Ebden, YukiSaki are in the direct entry list for doubles main draw. BalaJee would need a miracle for 5-6 teams to withdraw to make it as an alternate pair.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Looks like YukiSaki just about squeezed into main draw as last direct acceptance. Good for them to playing second slam of the year together. They need to start picking up some big points soon though to stay in this range or go higher for remaining slams of the year. Their last year challenger title points are beginning to get dropped off soon.
In juniors, Yuvan Nandal is in main draw and Aryan Shah in qualies. Manas is 7 out from qualies, hope he too make it in qualies eventually.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Ankita draws a wildcard player - Emeline Dartron, who’s ranked 393 in the singles charts. Couldn’t have asked for an easier match up in a grand slam QD.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Good draw for Ankita. She is drawn to play a Japanese ranked 141 in Q2, and potentially 3rd seeded Arantxa Rus, who she comfortably beat in the Singapore final on 20th Jan 2019 (I was there in the second set, but she won the first set comfortably without the help of my vocal chords ), in the FQR.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Topsy turvy first set in Ankita's match. She was up 4-1 but with only 1 break, Dratron won the next 4 game to lead 5-4 but than Ankita won the next 3 games to take the first set 7-5.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
From 5-2 up in second set and 1 game away from win, Ankit lost 5 straight games to lose the second set 5-7.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Some back and forth breaks in the first set, and Ankita is down 3-4 and facing serve.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Yikes! Back and forth breaks. And it’s 6-games all. Ankita knows that the Japanese is struggling with her backhand and keeps attacking her. That tactic is working but please hold your own serves, Ankita!
All that for nothing. Ankita lost the tiebreaker 1-7.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
And Akita lost 67(1) 16... She was able to play Uchijima well for several sets, both at BJK and here but couldn't really solve the Japanese puzzle, I guess
[Q2] Ankita Raina (IND,212) l. (30) Moyuka Uchihima (JPN,145), 67(1) 16

Re: Roland Garros 2023
YukiSaki has an easy matchup against French wildcards Couacaud/Rinderknech (never played a pro match together).
Bops/Ebden play another French pair Doumbia/Reboul.
BalaJee are currently #4th in the alternates list. Hope they make it.

Re: Roland Garros 2023
Bopanna/Ebden have a pretty easy first couple of rounds against French pairs. They are guaranteed to play a wildcard pair in the second round. Yuki/Saketh get a French wildcard in the first round, but could play the 9th seeds in R2. Here are their early-round draws:
6-Bopanna/Ebden vs. Sadio Doumbia/Fabien Reboul (FRA/FRA) -- tough pair on clay, finalists at Cordoba, SF at Rio 2023.
WC-Fils/Mpetschi-Perricard (FRA/FRA) vs. WC-Arribage/Sanchez (FRA/FRA)
-potential R3 opponent is 11-Krawietz/Putz (GER/GER).
Yuki Bhambri/Saketh Myneni (IND/IND) vs. WC-Enzo Couacaud/Arthur Rinderknech (FRA/FRA)
9-Santiago Gonzalez/Edouard Roger-Vasselin (MEX/FRA) vs. Andre Goransson/Ben McLachlan (SWE/JPN)
If they get to R3, they are drawn to play 8-Mektic/Pavic in that round.
