Parth Aggarwal (IND,ITF-1216) upset the 8th seed Akram El Sallaly (EGY,1646) 62 63 to make the main draw too. With 10 Indians, this event has as many Indians in the main as in some Indian events!

Here are the results so far:
[R1] (Q) Yash Chaurasia (IND,1595) l. Jonathan Baron (ISR,1259), 26 26
[R1] (4) Digvijay Pratap Singh (IND,497) d. (Q) Chirag Duhan (IND,1969), 67(6) 61 62
[R1] Ishaque Eqbal (IND,1082) d. (WC) Alexey Aleshchev (RUS,1179), 61 62
[R1] (8) Karan Singh (IND,828) l. Guy Orly Iradukunda (BDI,1002), 67(3) 36
[R1] Rishab Agarwal (IND,950) d. (PR) Dev Javia (IND,1650), 63 76(1)
[R1] (Q) Parth Aggarwal (IND,ITF-1219) l. (Q) Denis Constantin Spiridon (ITA,1570), 57 26
[R1] (6) S D Prajwal Dev (IND,747) d. Ben Weintraub (ISR,1269), 62 60
[R1] Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND,992) l. (Q) Nicolas Villalon Valdes (CHI,1434), 63 36 67(8)

[R2] (6) S D Prajwal Dev (IND,747) vs Ryotaro Matsumura (JPN,1075), 63 01 [INTERRUPTED/postponed]
The Burundian (with a last name like he is from AP/Telengana) who "upset" Karan Singh was actually ranked at #600 earlier and is coming back from a 6 month injury break. He is a good player. Unfortunate for two Indians to draw him first.

Re: ITF M15s Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 2023
Dev Javia produces a biggest upset by sending the 3rd seed home. We might be assured of an Indian semi finalist from that quarter.
Actually, 7 Indians won today. How about that!

Re: ITF M15s Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 2023
Make it 8 wins in 8 matchs by Indians there. Qualifier Chirag Duhan just broke Rafael Ymer in the 9th game and served it out at 63 64 for the 8th win. Also, Ishaque Eqbal just broke 5th seed Beckley to even it up at 57 75 00 i the 9th match. Can we get yet another upset win??? Please.

Re: ITF M15s Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 2023
Very rare indeed to get 8 out of 9 wins on foreign soil even at this level. Real upset win was from 21 year old Dev Javia against a top 500 player. Dev was a decent junior with a career high ITF junior ranking of 54. He was earlier ranked inside top 1000 last year but had an injury it seems. Good to see him back and coming up with what is mostly his career best win in only third tournament since return.

Good luck to our contingent at the Indian Open tomorrow. PKB wanted one semi-finalist. I want at least two.
