16 year old amateur golfer Avani Prashanth has won a Ladies European Access Tour (Feeder Tour) event at the Nordic Golf Tour.

Avani started the day at tied ninth position and was 4 shots behind the leader. She scored a 5 under par final round and won the event by 1 shot.

This is first time an Indian golfer has won at the European Access Tour

Avani who has qualified for the Hangzhou Asian Games in China in September-October, has decided to give up her amateur status and turn pro later this year on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Although the LET allows players to compete at the Q-School only after they turn 18, they made an exception following Avani's fine run in two of the three events she played so far. This win confirms that LET made a right decision.

Avani Prashanth has jumped 229 places in the world rankings to a career high rank of 627. She is also ranked 70 in the world amateur rankings.
