Re: European Challengers 2023
It depends upon people's bodies. The same cannot and does not work for everyone. Leander, for example, would get injured if he played three weeks in a row. I think Jay and I had exchanged emails at that time when Tennis India was an email newsletter about this with some data backing that up. Others play 3-4 weeks in a row easily. So, if he has seen that playing multiple weeks in a row or so many matches makes him more vulnerable, then he should take a week off. Or if he is exhausted. Otherwise, he will play. Let us see.

Sumit lost the first set 2-6. Left handed angles of Silva proving too strong. Also Sumit making far too many errors there.

Sumit’s game would be so much easier on his body if he had any sort of weapons. His serve potency rivals the one my son has on his high school tennis team. He is content on just starting the point with his serve. I can see him eventually reach top 125-150 but no higher. Hope I’m proven wrong.

Re: European Challengers 2023
Just updating the final score.
At Troisdorf Challenger 75, Germany (Clay)
[SF] (LL) Sumit Nagal (IND,254) l. Frederico Ferreira Silva (POR,230) 26 63 46
Silva served really well and apart from aces won 15-20 points just on strong serve. So, it was amazing that Sumit stayed with him till end. After first set where he made too many errors, Sumit played really well. Anyway, a great run after getting in as a lucky loser.
Sumit is in entry list of Hailbronn challenger next week. But, maybe he will withdraw as he will have play Q1 tomorrow itself which will be tough playing 5 matches 7 days this week.

Re: European Challengers 2023
It was unfortunate. If only he had converted that 27 shot rally at 30-40 BP on Silva's serve at 4-4 ... Anyway, he played very well. You win some, you lose some

Re: European Challengers 2023
Expected decision once it was clear that he had to play qualies. If he had got a SE into main draw, maybe he would have played as he would have got a couple of days break.
RamK is playing qualies at Heilbronn and will run into 7th seed 343rd ranked Frenchman Maxime Janvier today. That is a tough match.

Lost as expected.
RR's 12th Challenger first round loss in a row if you take away the home tournament in Chennai where he won a few.

Re: European Challengers 2023
At the Surbiton challenger (grass), we have 2 teams involving Indian players.
Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (PAK)/ Divij Sharan vs Hugo Grenier (FRA)/ Constant Lestienne (FRA)
(3) Sriram Balaji/ Gonzalo Escobar (ECU) vs Yu Hsiou Hsu (TPE)/ Luke Saville (AUS)
Debut pairing of Bala/Escobar. Perhaps Jeevan is taking this week off. Hope both of our teams win!
