Re: Chirag-Satwiksairaj
None of that it too original. I love the originality the Indonesians had, in naming their pairs Daddies and Minions. Short and sweet names.
I don't like the names we come up with, in India. Didn't like "Indian Express" either, when LP-MB called themselves that.
Instead of "twin towers", if their height and similarities are what we are focusing on, I would just call them "1N1". It also indicates that they are destined to be both ranked 1.

^^^ That is original, but I would rather not give respect to another team, and look like their name inspired our thinking.

I like Dominars!! The charminar hint will help. Non-Indians may not understand it (though they would get a sense of domination anyway).
If people are already beginning to use Twin Towers, it might be easy to get them to switch to "Dominars" !!! How do we spread the word?

Re: Chirag-Satwiksairaj
From where did you come up with this name....? It exactly looks like a bacterial or viral species!!!!
The original name "Ice and fire" given by espn journalist is much better.

Re: Chirag-Satwiksairaj
Some wonderful suggestions there. In Tennis doubles is for "Also Rans" and largely ignored by Tennis strong nations so Indian fans had to pitch in with a name. But in badminton, there may be many fans for SatChi in other countries. So i expect fans would likely settle with an English name rather than a Sanskrit or another Indic language name. Lets 1st hope they win some laurels like World championships and Olympics...an apt sounding name can follow suit.

Re: Chirag-Satwiksairaj
I think Indian badminton players have maximum fans in Indonesia. Prakash and Saina are household names there. This is what I have observed in my visits here. They have a strong rivalry with the Chinese and anybody who does well against the Chinese becomes popular there. Indonesia's language is highly Sanskritized. So an Indian name would work just fine. Ironically SatChi's biggest rivalry now is with the Indonesians.
