Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
Vaidehi has made the main draw of W35 in Taiwan next week and Thailand the week after. Her ranking has fallen to near 600 now. So, needs some good weeks to brings it up and try to get it into top 500 to start with.

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
Unfortunate that Shrivalli isn't there with her. These two friends were planning to do 2 weeks in Korea and the 2 weeks in Taipai together, and play doubles together too. But Vaidehi missed the first week at Taipei, and a freak off-court injury has taken Shrivalli out of the second week too.
Vaidehi was playing very good tennis when I saw in Korea. I think she will move back up the ranking again soon.

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
At the ITF W35 in Taipei, Taiwan (Hard):
[R1] Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND,597) vs (Q) Rinon Okuwaki (JPN,792)
Rinon is a 19 year old who qualified last week in Taiwan too, and won a round. She seems to be playing quite well, so not necessarily too easy a match, but Vaidehi should take this. Vaidehi isn't playing doubles this week.

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
Excellent win for Vaidehi. The opponent was on a 7 match winning streak. Probably playing 8 matches in 10 or so days got to her like it gets to our players. Nonetheless great for Vaidehi to get that win.
Next, up against qualifier from New Zealander.
At the ITF W35 in Taipei, Taiwan (Hard):
[SF] Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND,597) vs. (Q) Monique Barry (NZL,649)

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
When I saw Vaidehi play at Daegu, I felt that she had taken a next step in the quality of her tennis, but I didn't expect it to go up this much - to what we saw today on ITF livestream.
This was an absolute dismantling of an opponent with unbelievably accurate tennis, by Vaidehi. One of the most clean and dominating matches I have seen from our ladies. Right from the get go, Vaidehi was in full flow, with her defense (probably the best among Indians, save perhaps Ankita) moving up a further notch better today. She was like a machine, returning everything that came to her side. Monique must be obviously tired, as she had played one extra match in qualifying and just had two three-setters in the R2 and QF, but that was not really why the match went like this. It was basically Vaidehi. I think the court bounce is perfectly to her liking, and she was able to use her full back swing to put some mustard on many shots. There were so many deep shots when she was on offense too. Some of those forehand winners were hit with authority and great pizzazz. A couple of cross-court forehand winners also flummoxed the Kiwi lady. By late in the first set, Monique was so frustrated that she started kicking the ball arbitrarily. By the middle of the second set, she gave up on even getting upset at herself. She probably knew that it was not her fault, but rather just Vaidehi's brilliance today. To put icing on the cake, Vaidehi executed a forehand to the corner to draw Monique away and softly put across a drop shot too - right at match point! ... 62 60. Monique won only 5 of the 30 points in the second set.
Take a bow, Vaidehi... Let us have one more day of this level of tennis

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
The 23 points will move her total to 96 and the ranking to around #530 -- but the points will go in only after a week, and then I think the next ranking update is only on July 15th because of Wimbledon. It will move her ahead of Zeel to India #6 and behind Rutuja and Karman. A win tomorrow will be worth another 12 points to almost #500 and the #5 spot, ahead of Karman.

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
Superb dominating win by Vaidehi.
She plays a Japanese in the final.
At the ITF W35 in Taipei, Taiwan (Hard)
[F] Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND,597) vs. Kyoka Okamura (JPN,367)
Okamura also reached the final last week here in Taiwan. So, she has played lots of matches in last 2 weeks and also had to play her unfinished QF today and the SF which went to 3 sets. So, hopefully Vaidehi will take advantage of that in the final tomorrow.

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread
Vaidehi will need to not pay attention to all the drama Okamura can create. Screaming loudly and going on some streaks. She is like Leander. Goes on some adrenaline rushes. That was needed for her to play all the hours of tennis the last two days and pull some Houdini acts in both matches to reach the final. She is of course a strong player, once ranked as high as 228. Still ranked around 350 at age 28. Hopefully she is too tired to keep bringing out her best like she has been doing the latest couple of weeks.

It is pathetic that there is just nobody in the stands, for a final. Not a soul. ITF needs to do something about getting the clubs to do some publicity work too.
