How would you call a 0-5 H2H extremely winnable? It's going to be a very tough battle tomorrow.

Prannoy lost in 3 games.

[QF] H.S. Prannoy (IND,18) l. Zhao Jun Peng (CHN,23) 21-19 6-21 18-21

Unfortunate that Prannoy could not capitalise on his wins against Momota and Lakshya. I now wish Lakshya would have won against Prannoy.

Lost 16-21 in third game. Chirag was not at his best today made too many errors, Satwik was quite good. But, 6th consecutive loss against these Malayasians for Satwik- Chirag.

These are details of Indian Medalists in our 12 year streak of medalists at world championships/ olympics-

2011 WD Jwala Ashwini B
2012- WS Saina B
2013 WS Sindhu B
2014 WS Sindhu B
2015 WS Saina S
2016 WS Sindhu S
2017 WS Sindhu S WS Saina B
2018 WS Sindhu S
2019 WS Sindhu G MS Sai B
2020- WS Sindhu B
2021 MS Srikanth S MS Lakshya B
2022 MD Satwik Chirag B

10 medals in womens singles ( 7- Sindhu, 3-Saina), 3 in mens singles and 1 each in womens doubles and mens doubles- total of 15 medals.

But, we had 2 medals in only 3 of the WC. Olympics has 15 medals against 20 at WC ( due to bronze playoffs). Our next step should be at least 2, possibly 3 medals at WC which which will equate to couple of medals at olympics.

The Malaysian pair who beat Satwik-Chirag in the SF went on to beat Daddies in the final to win the gold. Mens singles gold went to Dane Victor Axelsen who thrashed Laskshya's junior compatriate Thai Kunlavut. Axelsen has been as dominant as one can be at this level in mens singles. He has lost only 1 completed match this whole year and that was against Lakshya. Womens singles was won by Japanese Akane Yamaguchi who defended her title from last year.

Next week Japan open super 750 will be played in Osaka and most of the players who participated in world championships will play there.
