Have seen our world class top order to play and perform in toughest tracks by showing lots of responsibility and determination.Equation was to get 147 in 120 balls with run/ball difference of just 27 runs. Strike rates of our top 4 are among the best in the world in T20I cricket, they could easily have managed it once they spent some time in that track. Dew factor was raised as an excuse for loosing that game. Rest of the teams which won by batting second in that 2021 T20 WC was given tough time by the bowlers of the team batted first inspite of dew in the chase. Our top class attacked failed to take single wicket in that Pak game, they had best experience of playing in dew still failed to apply pressure in the chaseSaniaFan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 6:59 amGavaskar has rightly pointed out it they were rank bad shots. But I think Kohli's intent was fine other than that. It was a difficult pitch. T20 WC in Dubai and and this time in Dubai is not the same. That time there was lot of dew causing the team bowling second having great disadvantage in terms of gripping the ball and also ball coming on to the bat nicely. This time there has been no dew so far.Rajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 3:29 am 152 chase in T20 WC 2021in same venue also meant same thing.Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami was also not what you called bunch of duds. With target in mind sensible batting approach was required from the top order. Great Gavaskar also had to say for poor top order batting against Pak https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/ ... i12AU_53:0
BTW they always have been big match failure. Thanks to lower order, they are now winning most of the games.Batting in Dubai track [ Daryl Mitchell & Mitchell Marsh in WC ] has proved if any batter spends some time early on, can score alot in later half of the game.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
The strike rates of our top 4 are one of the best in the world? I thought that we were the slowest starters among the major teams. And only recently after Rohit came and we realized that we need to change to win the big games did he start to tell people to hit from the beginning. They are incapable of hitting from the beginning it seems.
In theory, the best time to hit should be the first five overs. I wonder why many teams other than England play the old-fashioned way of starting relatively slowly and letting their finishers hit.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Offcourse if we remove affiliates, associate, retired players from the list. we have our top 4 amomg the best strike rates https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte ... 82920.html. There is no bread & butter rule when batters will start to hit from power plays or later if the ball is about to be hit it should be hit. The talking point was not about hitting though it was about playing sensible cricket and win the game, not taking to tensed situation with KL, Rohit, VK taking some time as the chase was not big enough.

Bangladesh batting first against full on confidence Afghanistan at iconic Sharjah. Bangladesh have been doing great in Asia Cups, finalist in 2012, 2016 & 2018 edition

Great win by Afghanistan. Playing T20 leagues all over the world has developed this team and now they are a great force

Re: ACC Asia Cup
So it is most possibly India v Bangla/SL and Pak v Afghanistan. I am hoping we will not disgrace ourselves against Hong Kong.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
There is super 4 no semi final. The format is created so that India and Pakistan play each other thrice. Maximum revenue.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Its very tough to be Deepak Chahar. Seems his career going to be over playing against low ranked sides and warming in the bench in ICC events and multi team tournament. Hope he improves more with the bat in upcomming domestic season, A team, IPL and put an end of him getting not picked due to similarity with Bhuvi Kumar and get picked as 3rd seamer

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Against Hongkong, I'd play Surya, Pant, Hooda, Arshdeep, Avesh, Bishnoi, Karthik, Rahul, Ashwin, Jadeja.
So: SAY, Rahul(c), Kohli, Pant, Karthik, Jadeja, Hooda, Ashwin, Bishnoi, Arshdeep, Avesh.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Yep. But, Pant was born with a silver spoon. Horrendous, absolutely horrendous innings from Rahul and a terrible innings from Kohli too. I write this after over 17.
We would have gotten to 200 if Kohli was out earlier or dropped.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
15T20Is enough now. Not seeing Avesh in T20 WC Squad. So, the spot is between Harshal & Shami.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Rubbish Khan got caned by Hong Kong's amateurs. Really, we needed to have tried DLC to see if he can do well here. I would take out Pant and Avesh for real matches and bring in Hardik and Hooda.
