Re: ACC Asia Cup
The ones who average over 25, often 30, and with a SR of 140+ are Yashaswi, Rinku, NTTV, Prabhsimran, and Jitesh. Playing all of them will be great but we have the elephant in the room, Gaikwad, who was made captain! He is slow. Put him in too and let NTTV be the sixth bowler and Yashaswi can roll his arms if needed. We will still have space for five bowlers. Let us not play the weak bats in Tripathi, Dube etc. We need bowlers who can bat at #7, 8, and 9. And maybe two #11s.
Thus #7, 8 can only be Shahbaz, Washi. Dube can be #7 too but he is a weak bowler. Maybe #9 is Akash Deep because he can bat a bit. And, then we use the last two slots on Arshdeep and Avesh. Unfortunately, Bishnoi does not find a place unless the pitch is a spinning pitch. Then, he replaces Akash Deep.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Bishnoi and Saikrishna were the best bowlers admittedly. But the problem is that they cannot bat afaik.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
But then we are playing on a slow track. Is their batting almost 10 runs worse?
Sai Kishore has average of 19 in listA with SR of 19. Wondering if it is just a case of more not outs for Arshdeep. Arshdeep played 20 innings and has 57 runs with SR of 73 , while Sai played 10 innings and has 29 runs and SR of 112. Sai Lishorr was responsible for south zone beating North zone in Dileep trophy recently as well. His batting has been improving.Bishnoi is better in T20 as well
So Arshdeep definitely do not offer more in batting to be picked ahead of both of them.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
We need to look at T20 records and not List-A unless they do not have enough T20 matches played. Can they bowl the death overs? Or do we need pacers there?

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Considering that T20 batting is almost identical and sample for Sai Kishore smaller, does not hurt to use List A to extrapolate
If the opponents don’t have lefties, drop Washington… and let Rinku/Tilak bowl some overs.
Avesh can definitely bowl at death.. not sure about Akash deep. Is Shahbaz ahamad hurt? Surprised that Saikishore got nod over him. Seems like he got pitchforked into playing 11 straight from reserves. Wondering if shahbaz is hurt and out of the team

By the way, SL had 9-10 debutants , Afghanistan had one, Bangladesh/Pakistan around 6 and India had 2. So india has the most experienced squad of the bunch.
India will face bangladesh in semis.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Bangladesh batting first finishes at 96/9. Sai Kishore was the pick of the bowler getting 3 wickets giving away 12 runs.. Looks like Shabhaz is back in playing 11.. so who did Ravi Sai Kishore replace? Mukesh or Akash deep?

Re: ACC Asia Cup
So, it seems they have concluded the wicket is a spinning wicket. Will the finals be on a similar wicket? We need to strengthen our batting a bit then.
So far, in limited chances, Sai Kishore 9.25@4.62 (avg@economy) in 2 matches. Shahbaz in 1 match 13@6.5. Bishnoi in 15 matches 17.29@7.07. Sundar 28.29@7.15 in 37 matches. NTTV in 4 overs 11@5.5. We are going in with 5 spinners. Must be the pitch.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
India will play Afghanistan in the Asian Games final. After an easy 9-wicket win over Bangladesh, India awaited the outcome of the Pak-Afghanistan match, and the latter won by 4 wickets with 13 balls to spare. A reasonably easy-looking win, but all Pakistan needed was another wicket (with around 22 runs remaining, and 3 overs to go). They made the fateful decision to give the 18th over to wayward pacer Aamer Jamal, who was tonked for 23 runs off 5 balls (including two wides and a no-ball) by Afghan skipper Gulbaddin Naib, and it was all over!

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Isn’t that perplexing .. it is a rank bowling pitch and india sticks to that same formula of 5 bowlers. It was a good idea to drop a pacer, but should have played Singh or Tripathi in his place and not bring another bowler who can bat. Was very happy to see Tilak bowl. In future, offspinners will primarily be part timers(already trending that way).
By the way, Sai Kishore has thr best numbers among leftarm spinners in domestic T20 with 16 average and Er 5.45. shahbaz is 27.2 and 7.4, Axar is 28.3 and 7.01. Even in IPL with small sample size, Saikishore has average of 20.2 and ER of 7.5. He was part of CSK set up and never got to play with Jadeja and Santner in lineup. And last year, never played even a single match for GT with Noor Ahmad playing all games. He has been promoted up the order a few times in List A, so he can bat but probably not as good as Axar

Re: ACC Asia Cup
We have like 5 spinners and a pacer now. On a bowling wicket you need all that? This is crazy selection. And, the wickets have been underprepared all over this tournament. Not going to get batter in the last match. Get Prabhsimran in. Drop one of Shahbaz or Sundar. Maybe Sundar.

Re: ACC Asia Cup
Good to see team management showing some vision with Shivam Dube. He should get fair chance as he brings utility to the team, can be very much useful in slow & sticky Caribbean tracks

Re: ACC Asia Cup
I actually like Shivam Dube, but not sure he can succeed. As a batsman, he is one dimensional very good against spinners, mediocre against pacers. Average 43 against spin and 23 against pace in his IPL career.
As far as bowling, so far he not shown anything. To get away with playing him we need a very deep batting line up and a captain who can use him well.
