Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Sahaja on her way to get double bageled. 0-6 0-1 so far. Unfortunate draw but Madison Brengle is not that lethal to double bagel any player like Sahaja. Just Sahaja doing Sahaja things so far. 0-6 0-3. Finally gets a game breaking Madison’s serve and now holds to love. 0-6 2-3. Had multiple opportunities to break her opponent but not to be. 0-6 2-4. Gets broken at 15 Brengle to serve for the match at 6-0 5-2.
At W60 Berkeley, California, USA (Hard)
[R1] Sahaja Yamlapalli (IND,408) 0-6 2-6 (1) Madison Brengle (USA,99)

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
I feel.she needs to be defended. Facing top 100 being ranked 400 is tough. She could have fought harder but I guess this is her first encounter against top 100. She took some time to understand the opponents game and put up any kind of fight.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Sahaja lost 6-4 6-2 (I didn’t expect her to win, McCartney gave KKT a run for her money few months ago, but I was curious to check the stats and surprisingly Sahaja had only one double fault ).
She goes to Rancho Santa Fe W60 next, where’s she’s 4 spots out of the MD. I might go watch her Q matches this weekend if she doesn’t move up to MD. Rutuja was supposed to play and she had earned a MD spot but after the Asiad high, she must have wanted to take another week off.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
I watched for some stretches, and Sahaja was actually playing quite well. Her main problem was that she made a lot of mistakes in shot selection at the BPs. Four against her (all 4 were converted) and 6 she had (she converted only the first one). Basically she went 1 in 10 at those key points. One time at 3-4 in the first set, down a break, she pummeled Kessler into submission with forehands and had a 15-40 (those were some of the hardest forehands I have ever seen; boy, she is hitting the ball even harder than she was hitting before! That is scary). Kessler was yelling to herself, "I can't hit a shot to save my life" - all upset at herself. But Sahaja hit a return too hard and too long, and then made a shot location mistake at the next point, and lost the chance to get back in it. She had similar chances to go ahead in the second set too, but again missed a BP. The pattern continued. One of those days...
Sahaja is still trying to put things together in her game. Her serve has definitely become steadier, and the DF problem happens only much more infrequently now. The retrieval shots and shots on low-rising balls have all improved and there is a bit more variety in her shot making now. But it all needs to come together for her to win the matches more consistently.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
You mean video links? I was watching it at ITF's live stream page - https://live.itftennis.com/en/live-streams (Unfortunately, they don't archive anything, unlike ATP's challenger video archive)

W60 Rancho Santa Fe ITF:
R1 Sahaja Yamalapalli (399) 3-6 5-7 (Q) Jiangxue Han (CHN,969)
Stupidest match I have ever watched and I’m so glad I didn’t travel 20 miles for this. Sahaja goes up to 5-4 40-0 from 2-4, couldn’t convert one set point only to lose to someone who hasn’t even beaten a top-500 player this year. Sahaja needs help. Beating the crap out of every single ball that comes her way is not going to get her anywhere.
