Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Sahaja lost in first qualifying round today in Lexington.
At ITF W60, Lexington, USA
[Q1] (6) Sahaja Yamlapalli (IND,426) l. Carolyn Ansari (USA,824) 64 36 36
So, turning out to be quite bad tour of US this for Sahaja. Only 1 win in 3 weeks and 2 of those 3 losses have come against much lower ranked players.
I think as of now she needs to travel more to Asia or places like Georgia and Tunisia were she had good success couple of months back. These US higher level events are quite tough and generally there are quite a few players who are underranked.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
One ace and 9 double faults today. The opponent had 9 double faults too though. Yeah, she needs some more match-play experience in lower events elsewhere before she can do well on the US hard courts with so many under-ranked players.

Good win by Sahaja yesterday.
At ITF W100, Landisville, USA (Hard)
[Q1] (9) Sahaja Yamlapalli (IND,426) d. Sara Daavettila (USA,609) 63 46 75
Sahaja saved 3 match points serving at 4-5 in the third set with some gutsy play. She served 11 doubles faults but did not serve any in the last 2 service games when it was critical.
Up next against a former top 30 players.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Outside Asia she is not top 500 player. Hope she doesn't get double bagled in the next match.

This tournament is close to my home. Actually, I will working at the tournament this weekend in an official capacity. If all goes well and Sahaja is playing in the semis, I will be seeing her on Saturday.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
We didn't know. Vishnu was looking for accommodation for Sahaja earlier. He did find a host family though.
As she is a qualifier and everybody is higher ranked, semifinal would be tough to expect. You should try to catch her tomorrow, if you can!

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
When I say close to home I actually live about an hour from Landisville. That would be too far for Sajaha to commute back and forth. Would have loved to have hosted her if it was closer. I wish I could be there tomorrow to see her play singles and doubles, but unfortunately work comes in the way. I may try and sneak out of work and go on Friday if I can. Maybe she can pull a few upsets along the way. Interestingly, she plays doubles with Bondarencko on stadium court in the last match of the day. Of course she beat her today in singles.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Wow. That's the worst reply one can get from a player. Not only she didn't lose, she won when she was down a set. This is amazing. I agree with Jay, if she plays her shots well, she will be a handful to any body.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Well, Sahaja and Kateryna Bondarenko were scheduled to play the top seeds on Tuesday in doubles but I am not sure what happened. The other 7 first round matches got done. Here is what they say in the ITF draw pages - https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament ... tionCode=M
Huh? The result of that match was a "BYE" ?? What is that??
