ankit1407 wrote: Sat Oct 07, 2023 10:03 am ok over and out ...0-10... this was just top class from Yazdani and Deepak looked like a school boy in front of him..

Congratulations on silver medal and also the fact he beat couple of very strong guys..... so I guess best we can expect from him is Bronze in Olympics...
Yazdani and David Taylor of US have been completely dominating this weight class. The bronzes are available. OCQ or someone like that should find him a strength trainer and they can make a difference in a few months.

The 4th placed Asian Games team has won between 12-17 subsequent Olympic medals in the last few games, respectively, so hoping India can also fall within that range in Paris.

Updated our final medal tally and list in the other thread.

To have real like to like comparison, we need to remove the medals which were not available last time. So, 2 Compound team golds, 2 cricket team golds, 5 team golds, 4 team silvers and 2 team bronzes in shooting will have to be removed from this year's list.

So, for like to like comparison purpose, we have 19 golds, 34 silvers and 39 bronzes a total of 92 medals. This against 16 golds, 23 silvers and 31 bronzes- Total of 70 medals.

So, gold improvement is only 3 - losing out 3 in athletics, 1 boxing, 1 in bridge 1 in rowing and 2 in wrestling from last time which brought us down to 8 golds of last time but were more than compensated by 4 additional golds in compound archery, 2 golds in squash, 2 golds in Kabaddi, 1 in badminton and 1 in Equestrian events.
Total Medal improvement is still big even if we remove additional items- from 70 to 92.

Cup cricket campaign against Australia. I gotta travel early morning Sunday. Decisions, decisions.
I would not change travel plans. I still remember getting up after 2 hours of sleep for 2003 WC finals. I had travelled the entire day before and it was very disappointing

Hope you got your beauty sleep Jay and ready for red river shootdown.

jayakris wrote: Sat Oct 07, 2023 9:07 am So we are at #27 in Golds. Man, who woulda thunk?

I feel bad for Afghanistan. They must be quite disgusted at the rule that the higher seed gets the gold. No justification for that.
The finals is not great advertisement for cricket in Asian games or competition of that sort. Cannot have the finals be decided without result like this? With pitches that are not well prepared and impact of weather, I think cricket will have a short stay . Is it still on for next Asian games?

The easiest solution is to start early in the day and/or have rest days for all matches.

Which one does the forum think was India's best achievement in these games? I'll go with SatChis win closely followed by the 1-2 in javelin.
