so we can now safely assume a Gold... 32-29... done and dusted... let the ethics conversation go on...

Actually the online scoreboard says 33-29. So if we got 4-1 at 28-28 to go to 32-29, we scored one point in the remaining time. If the officials had given 1-1 instead of 4-1, we would have STILL won.

No ethics conversation needed. If we took that final point, we deserved the gold!

That’s because after the fact of 4-1 being given Iranian raider had to go on offensive and was caught and later Indian raider could afford the luxury of staying near the line and consuming time and Iranian defenders had to still try to catch hold of him inspite of being near line. A lot changes due to that 4-1.

There were many more posts crying about missed chances last time. Actually, but for whatever happened to Aditi and Bahrainis, we could have gone over 30 Golds this time. Amazing.

yea post that 4-1 verdict- the only way to get it close was for Iranian raider to get some points but like I said they don't have enough quality in that department... Both the matches got close because of our guys/ girls not keeping composure which was poor to see.. I guess playing for country and only get limelight once in 4 years makes you do lot of things...

I think that’s one sorely missing part of this forum—there are no women participating in the discussion even if they are “lurking.” At least to my knowledge.

I see. Good point. But that is sports. These things happens. I will take the Gold gladly. If it were any other country than the one that is like taxes and death in another sport, I might even feel some pity for the losing side here.

I postponed it to another day. I kinda forgot to faint because the stupid officials just took too long and my brain lost the sharpness needed for fainting. Horrible. A glorious day for us, but the cricket rain and the kabaddi officials screwed it up. Lost the chance to faint. Oh well. Next time.
