We are hoping to win the World Cup with this bowling attack? This Shanaka dude is one terrific late order bat. He’s also captain and a bowler. He’s been doing his late order heroics consistently.

No Seniors are there to take the blame, so called talented youngstars with 2-3 years in international cricket still can't take the responsibility and win a game. Rohit & Kohli used to make mockery of this chase when they were in 24/25 age group.

What is the point Babu? I’m not getting it. Dump juniors and bring back the seniors?

The point is failure of these juniors who already spend 2/3 years in international cricket, weren't get highlighted enough in case of defeats in the presence of seniors. Direct blames were made against Dhoni, Kohli or Rohit in case of defeats. Haven't seen these juniors showing responsibility and win a game which Kohli, Rohit or other senior used to have when they were junior

Who are these youngsters with 2-3 years of international cricket? It does not matter that Rohit and Kohli did whatever they did. They are not there. They are not 24 or 25 either. Kishan has been there for a while and is bad and should be dropped. Surya has been there for a while and he is playing fine. He did fine today. The rest of the batters are new and should be given a fair run.

^^How does apportionment of the blame to seniors or juniors help? It’s just a futile exercise. I understand that’s the point, but how does it matter to the result?

Kishan is playing international cricket from 2021, Gill from 2020, Samson from 2015.Rohit & Kohli had enough match winning stats when they were in Ishan& Gill's age in international cricket. They gave equal contribution along with SRTs, Shewags, Dhonis, Yuvrajs.SKY is not a junior, he is the victim of selection politics. Except one or two match winning innings from Pant all have been passengers getting saved as all blames of defeats are targeted against seniors

He did not do fine today Only Axar and Mavi did fine or better today. Surya scored at much lower rate than the required playing significant number of deliveries.
But in general he is doing good.

You are right, of course, from a today's match point of view. In general, I was saying that 140 SR is not bad. It looks bad because our bowlers were totally awful and gave up 200. Yes, he should have batted faster today. But, we lost it when Hardik and Hooda sucked up 24 balls for literally nothing. Gone.

Now, we drop the junior who has been given a lot of chances and did not do much in T20Is such as Ishan. We give the others a fair run and if they don't work out, we drop them and go on to the next batch.

This is a misnomer. By that token Jaydev Unadkat has been playing international cricket for more than a decade. It does not matter how long ago you have played. Also, the three versions are different.

Kishan, I agree has been a failure in T20I cricket and should be chucked in that format. He has succeeded in ODIs producing an innings that Rohit and Kohli never have. So, he should continue in ODIs to be given a full run. He has gotten very few chances in ODIs.

Rohit was awful initially. You are rewriting history. He was dropped from test matches because he could not make it and was almost dropped from ODIs because he was awful. Then they moved him to be an opener and then he succeeded.

Kohli is a generational talent and perhaps in some aspects our best batsman ever (not in tests but in limited overs). He did produce right from the beginning but also was almost chucked out in tests before he turned it around in tests abroad when our seniors failed.

Gill has gotten chances in tests galore. He should be chucked out in tests and sent to the domestics. He has succeeded in ODIs in the handful of chances he got, and should get more chances there. He has not done well in T20Is but he only got two innings. He played a series-winning role in Australia in tests but has been awful after that.

Samson never got a decent run in ODIs and T20Is and should be given a full run. Just because he is being Unadkated does not mean that he shold be chucked.

Pant has produced phenomenal wins. He is the best test keeper-bat we have had ever.

Bottom-line: I support chucking out Ishan and Gill in T20Is and tests respectively. But, both should be given more ODI experience. Samson never got a fair chance nor did Hooda. Both should be given a fair run.

Does Jaydev Unadkat was selected in the team in all these years ? You will find Kishan, Gill, Samson and all these age group featuring in Playing XI in one format and is always with the team in rest of the formats. They have played enough IPL & SMTs with proper international exposure and aren't new to the format or in the team.Rohit was never a good in test cricket but he was always a good shorter format player, played crucial role in winning games in 2007 T20WC & CB Series in Australia when he was around 21/22.He didnt got big scores in middle order in shorter format but was way better then the present junior cricketers

That was, of course, reductio ad absurdum to talk about Unadkat. Sitting in the benches does nothing to your development. Gill has had 2 dismissals, Prithvi 1, Samson 15, Padikkal 2, Gaikwad 8 dismissals. You can say that Samson has got enough chances and I would agree in T20Is. That Gill has been sitting in the benches and been in the test team for a while is irrelevant.

If you want to drop Samson and Kishan from T20Is, I am fine. This Jiten guy, play him. The rest have not got a full run. It is also much harder to develop if you are getting to play 2-3 games each year. So the fact that they debuted long ago and played so little actually harms them.

Rohit was born in 1987. I checked his averages until the end of 2009. He averaged 30 in T20Is with a SR of 122 in about 14 matches, which even if you correct a bit for eras was very slow. Kishan for the record averages 29 at 128, better than Rohit. Samson averages 20@134 coming in the middle order or lower down. If I had to choose between the three, for a lower order role the SR of Samson seems more interesting and if higher up the average of Ishan at a much faster batting rate is more appealing. Rohit was not that great the first 2-3 years he started. Only from 2010, he turned it around. We have to give young people the time to develop and not let our nostalgia rewrite history. The rest I am not comparing because they simply have not played.

It is stupid to say that someone who has gotten 1, 2, or even 8 dismissals have not done enough and to drop them. We need to give these four a fair run at least.

Its high level of stupidity to dumb Rohit with his personal stat before he started opening. Just see his achievement with that 30 average, when he was junior, played match winning knocks with SRT in CB Series Final & T20 WC, same with Kohli. Rohit & Kohli used to finish the games or got out when there was nothing in the chase. Since both played with some top class players all they could do was support the seniors and they were highly successful in doing it. Present juniors have been nothing except hitting lower standard teams. I can only see Gills, Kishans, Samsons giving consistent performances in useless IPL. Already 20+ T20Is for them still a quality innings pending. Even with Pandya, SKY & Pant achievement have been more personal then winning games for the team. To win a WC you need talent like Harry Brook not these inconsistent blokes who rides on their personal achievement
