Also at the Beaulieu-sur-Mer J300 today, Manas and Nicolai Budkov Kjaer (NOR) gave a good fight to the second seeds in doubles, Reda Bennani (MAR) and Branko Djuric (SRB) before falling 67(4) 64 [4-10]. He seems to be playing fine this week.

Got it. Manas will next play 18 year old 4th seed Oliver Ojakaar (EST,24). Manas lost to Oliver couple of years back 46 46 in a J3 tournament. Hopefully, Manas will put up a fight.

This guy was a tough opponent. 18 year old guys are always tough, because they get to a higher level in physique at that age. Manas lost 36 26. Not too worried about this loss, though I had hoped for a better scoreline. At least he got a good top-100 win this week... Unlucky in the draw.

Yes it is a J200, the new name this year for what was a junior Grade 2 before.

They only did 3 or 4 singles matches at Salsomaggiore. It was a doubles day otherwise. Manas and Daniele Rapagnetta (ITA) won the doubles R1 and get the 4th seeds next in the QFs.

Looks like Manas and his partner lost doubles (11-9 in the third) They must have reversed the scores after Jay posted.they played short sets (maybe rain).

Manas is at the J200 in Prato, Italy, as the 8th seed and won the first round 63 75 over a qualifier. He won the doubles R1 also today. Jay

In second round, Manas beats Lannis Miletich (ITA,162) by same scoreline as first round 63 75 to move to QF.

In QF he will meet (3) Volodymyr Iakubenko (UKR,70)

Whoa, that is a genuine big win for him. I think his best win so far.

Manas lost 36 46 to Carlo Alberto Caniato (ITA,126) in the semis ... So, still no signs of taking the "next step" but at least he is giving evidence that he is still playing tennis at generally a top-100 level. It is tough competition at these European events. Only the 4th and 8th seeds reached the semis and both got upset today.

Yes, these European events are tough. His 17 year opponent whom he lost to has been consistently qualifying and making QF/SF of these J200 and J300n tournaments in Europe this year. Just feel Manas is slowly beginning to get to terms with these tough European kids although progress has been slow and he is not really zooming up.

With 100 points from this week, he will move up 10-14 spots in his ranking to between 70-75.

Looks like he will play the qualies draw at J300 in Santa Croce, Italy which will start tomorrow. Draw is not out yet.
