^^^ Thanks. That Somedev run in the US in 2008 was an incredible 28 wins in a row, but there were breaks between the 5 events. He had 10 in a row in consecutive weeks. Prakash had two long streaks in India (one of 13 wins in the 2003 4-week satellites, and one of 15 wins in the 2007 3-week futures series).
But most number of wins in consecutive weeks is still 10. Manas has tied that now because of 2 Q matches also last week. One more win, and he will have the sole record for most wins in consecutive weeks.
His performance is unprecedented in Indian tennis considering that he is doing it just after turning 17 and while these are low level tournaments they have very competitive fields especially compared to the Indian events in the past. Of course, these days Indians can barely win matches even in India.
This indicates that he has good stamina both physical and mental to compete and keep winning as many of these matches have been pretty long 3 setters.
I want Manas to reach Pune in good time to take full advantage of the singles wildcard at his home Challenger. But he isn't cooperating, by keeping on winning matches late into the week in Monastir (Tunisia)
Terrible scheduling there, by the way, that they are still only playing QFs on Friday. Last week, Manas was forced to play both QF and SF on Saturday. But of course, he was unfazed and won the title!
Blessing in disguise. I hope he can get an early flight from Tunis to Mumbai and arrive in Pune by Saturday night. It will take a few days to get over jet lag and be ready for this R1 match in Pune by Tuesday.

The qualifying is listed for Sunday and Monday. I wish he would consider requesting a Wednesday start.
Usually some of the main draw first round matches start on Monday and rest on Tuesday for challengers in India. But, it does happen sometimes that some of the first round matches get pushed to Wednesday. Manas will reach Pune only on Sunday at some point of time. So, hopefully as a home player he gets that privilege for Wednesday start or at least late evening Tuesday.

It looks like he played this match like he had a plane to catch. If so, I think he made the right choice!
Manas is now ranked inside top 800 at #793. He is now #5 in the ATP under 19 rankings and #9 among those who are below in the UTR rankings. Either way, he is one of the highest Indian I remember seeing in these age group rankings.

Finally!!
I am now actively following this kid. He seems to have shifted gears.
Next goal: Top 500.
Didn’t see the match but stats wise pretty decent match. It was 70-79 in points and mostly even with ball in play as his opponent had 9 aces. Each had 7 break points with the difference being that he was broken 4 times versus breaking twice. Just based on stats, I’d say his serve is an area for him to work on..,
Yes, I saw the whole match. Manas still lacks a bit in power as you would expect from a 17 year old boy. But, in second set he showed that he can play aggressive game too. Hopefully, with some muscle build up in couple of years time he will be able to beat players at this level with some power in his shots including serve. As of now top 500 should be the first target for this year which will retain him in top 5 in his age group.

Based on this one rally posted here, backhand needs more oomph too. Forehand also needs more juice. I think it will come with time.
This was 17 shots. There was another 17 shot rally in the second set, and he won that too. Actually he has pretty decent power on the forehand side and can handle the ball quite well on the BH side to hit it deep. I would say he has high-end power for a guy who was 16 just 2 months ago. Not top-250 type power yet. But like you said, it will come with time. Maybe a couple of years. This is exciting.
