Next 3 weeks Manas is playing at Tunisia M15 futures as a junior exempt.

At Monastir M15, Tunisia (Hard)

[R1] Manas Dhamne (IND,1627) vs. Kody Pearson (AUS,997)

Manas lost in straight sets. :-(

At Monastir M15, Tunisia (Hard)

[R1] Manas Dhamne (IND,1627) l. Kody Pearson (AUS,997) 67(8) 16

The first set went all the way down to the wire but from 8-7 up in tie break Manas lost 3 straight points. Second set looks one sided one but after falling behind 1-3, Manas was 40-15 in next 2 games but lost both one on his serve and other on Pearson serve. So, what could have been 3-3 score became 1-5 and than Pearson held at 30 to win the match.

Another first round loss for Manas. :-(

At Monastir M15, Tunisia (Hard)

[R1] Manas Dhamne (IND,1627) l. (Q) Omar Brigida (ITA,1220) 36 46

That is a tough loss for Manas. He is finding it tough to put it across these big boys.

Manas has been playing in Manacor,Spain last 2 weeks. Last week he won 2 qualifying round but lost in final qualifying round against Sergio Callejon Hernando (ESP,1264).

This week he beat the same player in final qualifying round to qualify for main draw. And today in main draw first round, he beat fellow qualifier Stefan Peter Hampe (GER,1109) 64 60.

In the second round, he will meet 6th seed Alex Rybakov (USA,559). 26 year old Rybakov has been ranked top 300 a couple of years ago. So, that looks tough for Manas. But, in any case he has got 4 good matches in already and will get the fifth one tomorrow.

The match between Manas and Rybakov is currently at 5-5 in the third set. Have been following the scores and Manas has squandered 7 match points in the last couple of games. Seems like a mental block but hopefully he will come through.

He wins 7-6 4-6 7-5! Could be his breakthrough win at this level!

^^^ Actually 8 match pts. I don't think it was mental, seeing how he kept bouncing back through that 4-game sequence. Normally, after dropping serve after multiple MPs (at 5-3 in the third), one would think the mentally feeble players would fold. He instead forced multiple MPs again on Rybakov's serve at 5-4... Ryb hung on for dear life, served an ace at one MP and took it to 5-5. Again, the weak types would fold, ruing the missed chances in two games. Once again, Manas (without the advantage of a big serve) had to hold, which he did at 40-15, to keep the pressure on Ryb... Then he went after Ryb for a 0-40 triple MP and did the job. There was a lot he did there, and there is no way for a player without some serious mental strengths to come through after all that!! Hats off Manas!! :notworthy:

He was doing all this in his 5th match this week, at the end of a 3 hour 5 minutes duel, that too. Wow. Unbelievable for a 16 year old to do this against a guy 10 years older who had been ranked as high as #290 not too long ago.

Anyway, it is his second M15 QF. Against another 26 yr old, Enzo Wallart (FRA,700), who upset the 4th seed today.

This is a solid win for Manas! Looks like he is taking a step up and will start winning matches consistently at the Futures level going forward. Of course, playing his 6th match here will likely impact his next match but this is a great run for him...

Yuki won 5 futures in India in 2009, the year he turned 17. He won his first overseas futures in Africa in 2011.

16 years and 10 months in April 2009 in India, he was about 9 months older than what Manas is now. Hope in next 9 months, Manas breaks Yuki's record of youngest ever Indian to win ITF title.

Thanks both. Hoping that he beats Yuki's record and wins a Challenger before his 19th birthday. Most players who tend to do that have a very good senior career.

Actually went and checked this - not including guys 25 and younger currently, only 2 players have not had a career high of top10 in the world if they both won a Futures title before 17.5 years and a Challenger before 19. There are about 20 players who have achieved this and gotten to a career high of top-10 (including Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro, Alcaraz) and about 4 or so who are still young like Yibing, Kecmanovic, Moutet etc

Manas lost 26 57 in the SF yesterday at Manacor futures. Looks like playing 6th match on day 6, he had nothing left in the tank to fight.

Manas again qualified for main draw at Manacor M15, Spain with 3 dominating 64 61, 62 63 and 63 60 wins.

He has a tough first round though against 18 year Russian Yaroslav Denim who was junior world #1 in July 2023 and reached junior Wimbledon final last year.

Manas lost 46 26 against former junior world #1. Manas lost 4 of the first 5 games and the last 4 games. He was 5-4 in the middle 9 games. Overall good competitive match against a very good player a couple of years older.
