Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Expected result. Demin was coming from winning the last futures that was held in this location in the previous week. In that future, he had defeated the player that Manas had lost to last week.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Losing is not transitive. A losing to B who lost to C doesn't mean that A loses to C. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Yes that analogy works.
But no denying as a 16 year old, these are highly encouraging results. I hope he is working on his fitness too.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Quite true. However, in most sports, if you have A beats B and then B beats C in close time proximity, the probability of A beating C is going to be a lot higher than C beating A. It will be interesting to see what the actual percentages by sport but I'd guess it will be well above 70% in tennis.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
^^^ I hope AITA will give Manas a wildcard to the main draw and Yuvan a WC to the qualies. (Aryan is also there, but he should make it in directly, as he is 3rd the Q list now)

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
^^^ Aryan withdrew. Looks like he too struggling with some injuries. Did not play anywhere since he retired midway thru his first round match at Chennai M25 in January, did not play any of the challengers.
Hope Manas is back to his full fitness in these futures, he too retired in his last match in juniors.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
^^ Manas beat Theo Hermann (FRA,ITF-1805) 61 63 in the Q2 but went down today in Q3 to the top seed Willaim Grant (USA,777) 46 46... Manas was up 4-2 in the second, but could not keep that lead.
I guess he is not yet at the level to beat top-800 ATP players, but he is getting there, as he is not losing to those below top-1000 these days.

[R1] Q-Manas Dhamne (IND, 1342) d. Maximilian Figl (ITA, 1471) 62 36 75
A typical claycourt humdinger lasting 3 hours and 21 minutes. Manas was down a break in the final set, then came back to take a 5-4 lead, had 6 MPs on his opponent's next two service games, and eventually won on the 7th one. He clearly dominated the final set from about 2-3 onwards, but was having trouble closing the deal. That is the whole point of match experience.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Good win by Manas and good to see that he came thru a long 3 setter. In the recent past in these kind of long matches, he has had fitness issues and he either retired or lost the third set cheaply.
He next plays 8th seed.
At M25 in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy (clay)
[R2] (Q) Manas Dhamne (IND,1342) vs. (8) Andrea Picchione (ITA,477)

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
It was like 4 am at night for me, and I had decided to give up and go to sleep at 3-4 when he was facing serve, if his opponent were to go up 30-0 or 40-15 in the third set... It went to 30-0 and I went to sleep. That must have helped ... I am so happy that he turned it around right there, got the break back and won 4 of the final 5 games wit two breaks to take the match from 3-4 in the third.PKBasu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 12:44 pm A typical claycourt humdinger lasting 3 hours and 21 minutes.
