There are only two players left in the qualifying competition who are ranked higher than Prajnesh (and both of them might still qualify, as they haven’t played their Q3 matches yet). Prajnesh is almost certainly going to get in as a Lucky Loser.

Does Praj get preference as a seeded player over unseeded ones in the draw?

Top 4 higher ranked losers will be selected for a random draw to replace one player who withdraws from the MD. Prajnesh is certainly on that list.

There are already 3 LL spots available; 5 of the TOP ranked losers in Q3 will go into a draw to pick the 3 who will get in as Lucky Losers. If there is an additional LL spot available, the highest ranked of the remaining 2 (from the 5) will get the 4th slot. The 5th player automatically gets the slot if a 5th opening occurs. If there are 4 or 5 LL spots (as there usually are in Slams these days) Prajnesh is certain to get in. If there are only 3 (a very improbably situation) he has a 60% chance of getting a LL spot.

Generally, he has a 75% chance to get in. Not bad. But then again, Indians have an uncanny knack of missing out on such things.... Jay

The probability of getting in is high because there are already 3 slots for LLs in the main draw. There are a total of 9 slots marked Q/LL in the main draw, of which 16 will be filled by qualifiers, and three by Lucky Losers.

Players carrying injuries will withdraw after the draw is made, so that they can still take half the prize money for being in the main draw. If only one player withdraws like this (and Prajnesh hasn’t already got one of the 3 LL spots), he has a 50% chance of getting that slot; if another player withdraws, Prajnesh is certain to be in the main draw as a LL.

For that we will need someone to withdraw after the LL draw. Safwat just finished his match, beating 6th seeded Donskoy. Dennis Novak, the first seed won his match. So Praj is the 2nd highest seed in. One match remaining in the qualifiers, Trungelliti vs wildcard Giustino

Yes, but that is not quite uncommon in recent times. At French open last year there were a host of withdrawals after the LL were drawn and Prajnesh had the opportunity to get the LL position but missed out.

So, that is quite a possibility but lets hope Prajnesh gets in in the first lot only and we do not have to wait till Monday-Tuesday to see if he is making it in or not. All the qualie matches are now over. So, we should get the news about LL spots anytime now.

A surprise name in the MD , Lu after a long hiatus now ranked 532 is to face Monfils in R1, is it PR or WC entry?

The best possible draw for Prajnesh as he is facing a wild-card Tatsuma Ito, who also trains at the Schüttler Waske Tennis-University ... The winner will be facing DJoker in the second round, so a big opportunity of playing on the show court, the Rod Laver Arena or the Margaret Court Arena.

[R1] (LL) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,122) vs (WC) Tatsuma Ito (JPN,145)

And Prajnesh has a 3 nil h2h record.
Nothing less than R2 will do.

Wow, that is great news. He did not have to wait for long and gets as good a first round opponent that he can get. He must win this now.

He is in with his PR. He has not played even any warm-up events and has not played anywhere since May 2018. Just turning up to pick up first round money which is big now.

Also, Safawat making the main draw makes Sumit's loss to him in Q1 a little more understandable now. Is he the first Egyptian to make the main draw of a slam or at least the first one after a while ?
