Right now in the race to Tokyo Srikanth is ranked 43rd and Saina 41st. I don't think either of them have a chance to qualify given their current form/ injury issues. Sai Praneeth and Sindhu should get through. Sourabh Verma may stand an outside chance. He is 10th currently in the race to Tokyo rankings. 1 doubles pair in each of the disciplines should also qualify. Link attached.

World rankings won’t be used for Olympics qualification and are different from Race to Tokyo rankings. Race to Tokyo ranking is based on points earned during the Olympics qualification period which is April 29, 2019 to April 26, 2020. So we are still very early in the period and these rankings can be expected to change fast based on a player coming out of injury , getting injured or making a surprise move deep into draw of a single big tournament etc etc.

Just to put things in perspective China doesn’t have any contenders in top 15 of race to Tokyo and Shi Yuqi their best bet is placed at 50. Carolina Marin who just came back from ACL injury is no where to be seen in top 100. But this is all going to change pretty soon and i would actually expect these two players would make it to qualification by April next year.

The moves in the world rankings on the other hand will be very slow and won’t give a glimpse of how the player is currently performing

Sindhu lost so did Prajnesh. Bad day for us.

Satwik-Ashwini losing after upsetting the 6th seeds in round 1 was kind of sad. Was also hoping to see Chirag/Satwik put up a stronger fight.

Sindhu’s results like these seriously dent her standing as GOAT etc. that we had discussed earlier. GOATs should have an aura and matching results of invincibility. While Sindhu seems to raise her level for big events, she needs to be more ruthless in day to day business as well.
