Gukesh just achieved his third norm at the age of 12 years, 7 months and 17 days. Missed out on Karjakin's record by 17 days.

Gukesh goes past 2700 and becomes the 3rd youngest ever to hit that mark (and only the 6th Indian ever).

World #32 in the live ratings at the age of 16 years and 1 month, phenomenal achievement.

He is also being mentored by Anand now, and looking very clearly like the next top-10 level Indian player.

Gukesh with an insane 8/8 in the Olympiad so far on Board 1 (for India Team 2). Unbelievable. The best individual performance in Chess Olympiad HISTORY. He has overtaken Harikrishna as the second best Indian chess player:

I hope Gukesh is mentally strong since his loss today is the stuff of nightmares, and the kind of loss that can mentally devastate you (given the stakes that he blundered twice and even a draw would have meant that India-2 would have been the likely Olympiad champions).

Gukesh will have an official rating of 2751 (just 3 elo behind Anand) in the official Aug 1 FIDE ratings. He is currently 11th in the world.

Can a kind mod update the thread title to "youngest to get to 2750" as he comfortably beat Carlsen's previous record.
