4th gold in men's 85kg weightlifting from RV Rahul. Thankfully, the Samoan failed in his final attempt.
Of the remaining events, I don't think we will add any more golds, but we have surpassed 2014 results in terms of golds.
There are 6 more events still to come in weightlifting. Do we add any more golds in those ? I have no idea of strength of our weightlifters in those events but they are heavier weight categories where we usually do not do well. So, perhaps no golds there but some more silvers and bronzes.
Tomorrow shooting begins which is a big medal hope and this time our team looks to be of higher quality. So, looking forward to improved medal tally from there.
Also our mens and womens table tennis teams are in SF. Last time too they had reached the SF but lost there and then in bronze medal match too. So, let us see if they can medal this time.
Our badminton mixed team too plays their SF tomorrow against Singapore. Last time we lost in the SF against England and then lost in the bronze medal match against Singapore. This time expecting a gold from them or a silver at the least.

Had a quick look at recent performances and I think we may pick up a couple of medals (unlikely to be golds) in the remaining weightlifting events.
We dropped badly between 2010 and 2014 in shooting, so lets hope for a much better return this time
Major part of the drop in shooting from 2010 to 2014 was due to discontinuance of pairs events. I think there was a drop in individual events too. We had only 4 golds in shooting last time. I will be disappointed if the gold count is lower than 6-8 this time. Total medal count may remain at similar levels like last time (17).
We'll need good performances in shooting, wrestling, badminton and table tennis to get close to 60-65 medals. I think 50-55 is more likely.
I expect biased umpiring in boxing, so unlikely to get too many decisions against the 'white' opponents in the semis and finals.
What are our chances in athletics? Any possibility of a medal in women's doubles in squash? Men's hockey could get a medal, but they need to improve on today's fiasco.
We are getting gold and silver in 10m women pistol. Also, we are almost thru to final in TT (women) and Badminton (Mixed team). Very good day today with Mary Kom in Semis as well.
16 year old Manu Bhaker is a phenomenal talent. She led all thru qualifications and final and won by a margin of more than 5 points which is huge in shooting.
Great comeback from Heena Siddhu too after trailing in 7th position at one stage and on the verge of elimination.
We can put Manu Bhaker's performance as Olympic potential one.
16-year old Manu Bhaker is the find of the games for me; this is an Olympic medal winning performance both in qualifying and in the finals. @sameer has there been any hype around her in the leadup to the games?
Olympic potential - Mirabai Chanu (48kg women's weightlifting) ; Manu Bhaker (10m women's air pistol)
Asian potential - Mirabai Chanu (48kg women's weightlifting) ; Manu Bhaker (10m women's air pistol)
Women's Table tennis team won 3-0 over England and are through to the gold medal match. I was wondering if it was an upset created so I checked the rankings, India is at 14 while England is at 30. And our most likely opponent in the finals Singapore is at 8. Surprisingly we are the highest ranked team(10) in men's category just above England.
Some disappointment in mens 10M air rifle. Ravi Kumar and Deepak Kumar were top 2 ranked shooters in the field and qualified in top 2 places . But, they faltered in the final with only a bronze for Ravi Kumar and Deepak missing out altogether.
This weightlifting commentator Michaela Breeze knows her sport but clearly not suited to this. She has pointedly refused to call a single Indian weightlifter by their name and only refers to them as "the Indian" while she calls every white lifter by their first name and is cheering for them irrespective of nationality.
And just now, one of the lifters collapsed and she was immediately like "he is fine, completely fine" and the paramedic rushes on and "it is way ott, no need at all". Poor guy had to drop out.
Also called out the jury immediately when they overturned a decision a couple of days back while the slo-mos proved them to be right.
