DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2018 (Super 500)

BWF has renamed all the tournament series and the super series events are not called Super 500 while Super series premier are called super 1000 and so on.

Last week super 300 tournament was held in Thailand where there was not much Indian participation.

This week super 500 tournament is being held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Today Satwik-Chirag started with another nice win to move to the QF. Saina and Sindhu to play later.

This is the pair which Satwik and Chirag had beaten in the French open in October. Hope they can repeat that result.

Saina defeated Sindhu in the straight games for entering into the semis ... In the semis, she will faced WR #4 Thai girl, Ratchanok Intanon.
Satwik-Chirag r in the semis with hard fought win over an experienced WR #6 Danish pair in three games ... In closely fought first game, they needed four game points for winning it ... In the second game, Danish pair took a control from the start for winning it comfortably ... In the final game, Danish pair opened 3 points advantage after 8-all ... Satwik-Chirag fought back from 12-16 to win next 5 points and from 19-all, they won next two points for a fighting win ... In the semis, they r facing local favorite and WR #1 Gideon and Sukamuljo.

By the way, this tournament is not a major. As per the new BWF classification this is a 500 event that would be equivalent of the earlier Grand Prix Gold.

Not really, $350K prize money means this is equivalent to previous Superseries tournament, though not Superseries premier.

Indonesian WR #1 pair proved a too strong for our young Satwik and Chirag, but still really good tournament for them.

Saina loses in straight sets. Nevertheless , it has been a great tournament for her and she should re-enter the top 10.

Saina has always struggled against TTY, must be on a 5+ match losing streak.

Yes, Saina is on a 7 match losing streak against Tai. But, Tai seems to be playing at a different level than the others on womens side as of now and is a clear #1. Overall, a very good week for Saina after a long time which should take her to top 10.

And also best week of their career for Satwik-Chirag.

Now, on to India Super 500 this week. Hope for more success in mens singles as our top players like Shrikanth and Prannoy should return there.
