The BCCI gave away contracts. The A++, A, B are not that interesting. But, the C and D or whatever is. Here are the players who have been contracted. This gives some idea of who is being considered to be next in line.

Grade C (Rs 1 crore): Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar.

Fast bowling contracts: Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal and Vidwath Kaverappa.

Interesting thing is that Jurel does not appear in any list. Or maybe the news article on Hindustan Times is wrong. Dube, Samson are still in the radar. Some new names in the pacer list. No ex-India players Kuldeep Sen or Shivam Mavi.

Jitesh seems to have the confidence still that he will turn the tide. No confidence in DLC but confidence in Shardul! No contract for Jurel or Sarfaraz but contract for Patidar? :kookoo:

They need to play minimum 3 test or 8odi or 10 T20i to get a contract. Both Jurel amd Sarfaraj will get it after next match. They'll automatically get tier-c contract.

Read on Twitter that Iyer is not in the list. Is that true? That’d be a remarkable omission. No Kishan either and Chahal is excluded too.

From cricinfo—potential reasons on the exclusion of Iyer and Kishan. I don’t think either should be surprised based on trial balloons launched in the past few days.

Shreyas iyer treatment do not appear to be fair. He did play in the ranji trophy before start of series. There is always some doubt when u return from injury and he should have been given benefit of doubt

^^We are not privy to what happened behind the scenes. There may have been discussions that weren’t indicative of the desired direction.

They are just using this to send a message. I think if Iyer plays the semis, etc. and does well and gets selected, then he may get a contract. The trouble is that Iyer right now is only an ODI player. So, the BCCI is unlikely to really worry about a contract for him. Ditto for Ishan. I think they want to give contracts to players who will be in at least two formats at least for the top 3 categories. ODIs are falling out of favor.

Hardik is basically getting a free pass because of his injury history. Jay Shah already said that.

BCCI is a hypocrite. They made this bed, but act as it they are high and noble.

Back Injuries are very difficult to handle. Could Iyer have played the prior Ranji match and probably did not want to risk it ? Very likely yes. Person recovering feom injury, may not want to subject himself to vigors of meaningless game which adds zero value to him

Chandrakant Pandit.. why is he not getting mentioned as NCA coach. Probably one of the best domestic coaches . He is not even in consideration for coach role becoz he is 61.

That ia the first rule introduced by Ganguly to kick out shastri and has to go.

He enjoys his monopoly market. Playing international cricket for 9 years, still no one is there to challenge him. All his replacements has been bits & pieces

For as good as Rohit has been, we need to rest/drop him from ODIs to start building/rebuilding for the next ODI WC. I'd rather have:

Sai Sudarshan, Gill, Kohli, Rahul, and Samson

Injury Backup: Shreyas

Samson and Sudharshan are the non-regulars we should try to give chances to see if they can really cut it. And, Kohli is the leftover to just keep some experience. The young guns need to talk to someone while batting to know how to construct an innings etc. Or else, we can replace him with Shreyas too and bring in Kishan or Yashasvi as backups.

This series showed us that Yashasvi and Gill can play when the pitches are decent - not just flat pitches - in India. Gill has shown us he is clueless abroad in SEN conditions. Yashasvi was also shaky in SEN. In essence, we have no clue who among the next gen will be successful in SEN. We basically need to try them out and see who sticks.
