Right but her putts per GIR ranking has gone down from 60 to 90. Which tells me that greens are probably easier but she is still taking same number of putts

SaniaFan wrote: Sun Jun 04, 2023 5:21 pm It seems she has gained 20-30 yards in the long game and that is helping her. Very good work done during the off season.

https://www.lpga.com/news/2023/aditi-as ... ricas-open

But when I checked the stats her average driving distance in 2022 was 235yds and it has increased to 252yds in 2023. So there is an increase of 18yds. Which is significant and surely helping her but is less than what she stated. Also, interestingly, her putting numbers have gone down. Does it mean driving is more important that putting? I am sure both are important but I am saying in relative terms.
She may well be longer by 20-30 yards even if the average is 18 yards more. There are many holes where you place the ball rather than hit as far as you can. For example, based on the shape of the fairway, the positioning of the hazards or on shorter holes placing the ball at a distance where you can hit a full club. On the holes where she takes a full driver swing she may well be 20-30 yards longer.

The analogy from cricket maybe a pace bowler whose top speed has increased from 138 to 148 even though the average ball may only be 5 kph faster.

After last tournament all her stats for the year have improved. Her driving distance is 254+ from 252+. Putts per GIR is 1.79 from 1.81 and ranking for the same is 59. All this is really great improvement in a single year. She should write a book about what she did.

This is almost certainly the case based on averages.

We have been saying this for Aditi since the Rio Olympics, glad that she has finally gained the length to go with her short game.

If she can finish in the top 10 in the race to CME, she will have a good shout for the best Indian sportperson for 2023.

^^Really? I watched the first round for a couple of hours only and there was not a single minute of her coverage. But she wasn’t in the top leaderboard either. Must’ve had a super second round.

She was in top 10 couple of weeks back and they showed only her birdie (couple of them) and bogey putt . No tee shot or approach shot. She does not drive rating

She had a -5 round today .

Aditi doesn’t get the coverage that she deserves when she is in contention in the 3rd and 4th rounds. In the early rounds, the players generally tee off in 2 waves (starting from 1 and 10 tees in each wave) so sometimes you could be watching coverage of a wave while she may be in the other wave ( so not on the course when you are watching).

Aditi Ashok in now 15th in the LPGA points based ranking for this year. Her world ranking is 47.

I think these are both career highs.
