A medal hattrick for India at Womens Singles .Indeed a quadratrick as 2012 London Olympic Bronze by Saina was also there. Now since 2011 India has won a medal,Although every time a bronze. Now Saina should convert it to gold or silver and then next year at the Rio We can will multiple medals.

India has Good Rio Chances in Badminton.Mens Singles is a Strong Event if our players learn to maintain consistency.
Women Singles should get us one or two medals.
Women's Doubles - Jwala and Aswini are Excellent players but need to improve their service game to become a top level team.
We can try Improving in Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles and try to make at least QF in next Olympic in any one of these.

So, after 5 consecutive QF's from 2009 to 2014, Saina reaches her first world championships SF. Also no Chinese women in singles of world championships SF for the first time since 1980.
Next,
[SF] (2) Saina Nehwal (IND,2) vs. Lindaweni Fanetri (INA,29) - Head to head 2-1 for Saina
Fanteri will have a lot of local support which helped her sail thru in 3 games today against the Taiwanese Tai from a losing position. So, Saina will have to overcome that.

Marin is through to the finals. Saina's match has just started. She is down 6-7 in game 1.

Ans she finished off it in straight game to reach the final.
[SF] (2) Saina Nehwal (IND,2) d. Lindaweni Fanetri (INA,29) 21-17 21-17
IMO, not the best of the performances by Saina against Fanetri who did not seem fully fit. But, importantly she won thru to make it to the big finals for the first time.

Brilliant news. Well done to Saina.
Now can she buck the usual Indian trend of losing finals!

We are still very far from a medal in both MS and WD.Ayush1234567 wrote:India has Good Rio Chances in Badminton.Mens Singles is a Strong Event if our players learn to maintain consistency.

In MS, this is the hierarchy
Tier 1 - Lee-chong Wei, Chen Long
Tier 2 - Lin Dan, Jan o'Jorgensen
Tier 3 - Momota, Srikanth, Axelsen
Tier 4 - about 15 including Prannoy and Kashyap
Our guys probably have 10% chance combined to win a medal. Srikanth has a 0-7 record against LCW and CL.
Saina on the other hand has a better chance than she did in RIo and that is mainly because there a lot of players out there who can beat the Chinese and Saina is very consistent against all the non-Chinese players bar Marin and the Taiwanese Tai-tzu Ying. As long as LXR and WYH are beaten by a Sindhu or Marin or Inatchon, Saina is in good shape.

@Sin Hombre Nice ordering of men's singles players. Srikanth has a chance to move to Tier 2 in your listing if he improves on last year. That would mean that it would be realistic to expect a bronze medal from him. He needs to start occasionally beating the Tier 1 players to reach that level.
