One wildcard should surely go to Sumit Nagal. Otherwise Indian tennis will stay where it is

Sumit just needs to get a WC here. In both Indore and Pune infact.

I completely fail to comprehend this forum's obsession over Sumit Nagal. He might be talented, he might have potential, but has done absolutely nothing to deserve a WC. Even if he is given one, he will surely get completely annihilated. Forget the fact that he has hardly won any points on the pro tour, forget the fact that by his age Somdev and Yuki had already won ITF titles, he has hardly done anything of note even in the junior circuit. Sanam, Yuki, Vivek and Jeevan all had better rankings. Give it to KU or Prajnesh, makes far more sense.

Well they gave Kyra a wc for a wta before time. Didn't help. Hence for me wc to next 4 ranked guys who don't make it to main draw

Re: $50K / $50K (+H) Indore, Pune Challengers, Oct.13-25, 20
Well KU and Prajnesh are never going to be even in the top 200, let alone top 100. When a guy has potential to be in the top 100 at least(even mentioned by Brad Gilbert),we need to take our chances. Otherwise we'll just dream of having top players. Guys like Francis Tiafoe and James Duckworth also had not done anything substantial, but they kept on getting WC's to ATP 250 and 500 events. See where Duckworth is now, and Francis is on his way. So Sumit at least deserves a WC to a 50K Challenger event.

I agree. 2 of the wild cards should surely go to Sanam and Saketh which leaves 2 wild cards open. I don't think Prajnesh is even going to play here. He is still injured. KU has also not played in quite a while. So, better to blood Sumit in big league if nothing but for exposure. It would have been a different story if RamK, Jeevan etc, would not have made the main draw.

The clamour for Sumit Nagal is one of the biggest mysteries for me - at this moment, his career is probably on track to have a best senior ranking of around 500.Ravishankar Krishnan wrote:I completely fail to comprehend this forum's obsession over Sumit Nagal. If we really desperately want to give a WC to a teenager, give it to Ronit or Sasi. Both have achieved very good wins at the senior level and are only a year older.

Re: $50K / $50K (+H) Indore, Pune Challengers, Oct.13-25, 20
Vatsal, please don't compare him to tiafoe. That guy won the orange bowl and was ranked in the top 3 among juniors. Duckworth too reached sf in French open. Granted, duckworth was 18 at that point, but duckworth is a guy who tried his hand at futures from when he was 14, while naval has hardly tried his hand at futures. Give nagal a wc for the futures that are to follow the challengers. He is not ready at all for this stage. I think it'll do more harm than good giving him a WC at such a premature stage. ( Forgive me for the typos, posted from my phone)
