4 ranking points. 3 for making Q3 and 1 for main draw appearance. And of course some pretty good experience playing against quality players.

The WTA's scoring system is much fairer on those struggling at the nether reaches of the tennis schedule.

Yes, they do give points for qualifying at challenger level in WTA as opposed to ATP.

In the meantime, Karman is back playing qualifying of another challenger in Canada this weekend.

At $50K ITF Women, Toronto, Canada

[Q1] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,1026) vs. Maureen DRAKE (CAN,999)

Drake is a former top 50 player but that was way back in 1999 and she is now aged 44. Quite incredible that she is still playing at this age. Lets see how Karman fares against someone who is 27 years older than her. :D

Another nice and comfortable win for Karman to move to final qualifying round.

At $50K ITF Women, Toronto, Canada

[Q2] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,1026) d. (7) Piia SUOMALAINEN (FIN,630) 63 61

Next,

[Q3] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,1026) vs. Isabelle BOULAIS (CAN,NR)

Boulais is a 15 year old who upset the second seed in Q2. Still, hope Karman qualifies for the main draw this week.

I expected Karman to beat Piia because Piia really struggled in her 1st round match - But I did not expect her to do it so easily! This is impressive!

Her next opponent may be only 15 but should not be overlooked! Isabelle Boulais has a strong tennis pedigree, being the daughter of former Cambodian tennis player Patricia Hy, who represented Hong Kong. She made the second week of a number of slams, including a US Open QF in the '90s.

Still I'm hopeful that Karman will prevail.

Disappointing to see her lose to a 15-year-old, but like I said, she's not just any 15-year-old.

Hopefully Karman won't be too demoralised by this.

Wonder if there's another lucky loser opening.

Wish granted, Karman got into the main draw as a Lucky Loser and created a big upset by beating a top 400 player
