Karman now on the verge of leaving the top 300. It’s always 1 step forward and 3 steps back when it comes to her game and injuries. I’m sure she’s just as frustrated as we are!

^^^ Yes, her last year's Canada title points are falling off this week. Unfortunately, injury seems to have again stuck her. Has played 3 matches in last 2 months after a good run including a title for her in July. She does not seem to have entered anywhere in next 2-3 weeks.

Congratulations to Karman and Gurjant. The latter scored a goal in the Tokyo Olympics QF against Britain (which India won 3-1), a crucial triumph on the way to the bronze medal.

Karman was down with elbow injury towards the end of the last year. I wonder if she has recovered. Typically elbow injuries take long time to recover. I am assuming it is tennis elbow.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
A year ago, Karman beat McCartney Kessler at the Indiana ITF semifinals and a year later, the American has went on to win her first WTA title in Cleveland, whereas Karman is nowhere to be seen. What a waste of a talent!

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Has she retired?
I have her name as players I am following and I have not seen her matches in a year.
Last match was in WTA - SINGLES: Hong Kong (Hong Kong) - Qualification against Danilina in Oct 2023.
I just checked her instagram and she has some pictures from a few hours ago. Maybe she's moved on, I see she got married in late 2023 so is likely into another phase of life.

Looks like she was in Paris to celebrate the Indian bronze medal in hockey with her husband Gurjant Singh who represented India at the Olympics.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
^^^ Hopefully she will want to get back to playing, inspired by her husband. As of now, I have kinda given up hope that she will ever get back, because it has been a long time away now, and she had not undergone surgery or anything as far as we know. That means her knee or whatever injury issue is not going away.
Pranjala, Karman, Sandeepti -- all injured and gone, after showing so much promise. Karman showed the most promise.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
I have no way of knowing for sure, but maybe she had a change of mind and wants to enjoy family life rather than travel around the world away from her husband. That seems more likely to me. I just looked her up. She was born 1 day after I started my career with a full time job.jayakris wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 11:36 pm ^^^ Hopefully she will want to get back to playing, inspired by her husband.
