Correct. Let's wait for the qualies to start.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
I don't understand one thing, KKT is quite active on social media. Why doesn't she post her plans also. She should have better connect with her tennis fans. This I think would increase her fan base also which may lead to better sponsorship/commercial opportunity. It may be a long shot but is something very low effort. For months we don't know her plans whether she is injured or is in training. Then people lose interest in following, so effectively you are losing your fans.
This applies to all the player who are doing better and have possibility to exploit that for commercial opportunity.

^^^ Maybe she doesn't care for the fans? There are a good fraction of tennis players who are like that...

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
And that is fine. I can understand if Top 20 or Top 50 players don't care about fans.
But I think it is in her interest to have more fans. Would people not be more interested in giving you ads etc if you have a larger fan base? Also if you put updates on social media, our journalists also pick it up and have news items etc. It is about creating more news. May be it does not help but it does not do any harm

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Absolutely. I doesn't hurt at all, and can only help. Somehow, tennis players world over are just idiots when it comes to selling themselves. Karman is not an isolated case. It is just that she is actually one who is rather active on social media and has some presence, who still but does not do anything to bring tennis fans along there. So maybe she is more foolish than others who just don't do much on social media at all. Sania and Bops are two who do well on this matter. Mahesh also used to, but they were all doing it after their singles days when social wasn't really much of a thing.

Social media is a double edged sword. Takes you up and then ignores you for the lifetime. One needs to be careful. Focus on the game is important. Of one wants to be like Eugine Bouchard, it's ok. But there are consequences.

It's light hearted fun. Nothing on building brand on fan base.
Btw, one on one interaction with fans can be irritating to players.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
I think it's mainly to post glamorous photos of herself. Those are responded to by thirsty guys with heart icons.
She doesn't post much about her matches or tournaments. I see most good looking female athletes falling into this trap where they focus on their looks rather than their sport.

Yeah,it looks like she is again injured. Played only couple of matches in US in last 1 and half months. She is in the Asian games team where AITA is supposed to have a camp starting from today. So, lets see if she gets fit for that.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman is in the qualifying draw at the Hong Kong WTA250 event. She plays her first round today.
QR1 (4) Karman Kaur Thandi (232) vs Anna Danilina (KAZ,1018)
Anna is a doubles specialist and won the US Open Mixed Doubles event this year with Harri Heliovaara. Hope KKT is healthy and capitalizes on this easy draw.
