Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Yes, these days grand slam qualies tend to have cut off of around 230 and not 250 as earlier.
So, this week as such is not critical for Karman, but next 3 weeks are. In 3 weeks she will need to earn around 45 points more to make it to around 230 by end July which is the cut off date for USO qualies.

Yes, bad loss that. Now, next 2 become more critical if she has to make it to USO qualies. Have not done exact calculation but will have to reach final or something in one the 2 weeks or reach SF in both.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Updating this thread as Karman won her second W60 title and her fourth title overall by winning W60 in Evanville, USA.
These are her results this week-
[R1] (3) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,261) d. (Q) Maria Fernanda Navarro (MEX,650), 63 62
[R2] (3) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,261) d. (Q) Maribella Zamarripa (USA,1107) 62 64
[QF] (3) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,261) d. (WC) Allie Kiick (USA,632) 63 63
[SF] (3) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,261) d. (Q) Mccartney Kessler (USA,504), 64 75
[F] (3) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,261) d. (4) Yuliia Starodubtseva (UKR,294) 75 46 61
With 80 points from that title, Karman has moved all the way up to #210 in WTA singles rankings and it has got right in the nick of time as she will now get into US open qualifying draw.

Karman is 25. She lost good part of last seven years to injuries and COVID. Here is wishing a consistent journey ahead. Results will come!!!

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman did play qualies at WTA 125 at Stanford qualies yesterday. She played against 6th seed Elvina Kalieva (USA,182). Karman won the first set 6-3, lost the second 5-7 and retired early in third set after losing the first game.
Hope no serious injury. That is the thing we are always worried about Karman.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Very strange. Maybe she was not feeling ok about something. Nothing serious. But she thought it's better not to play than aggravate a minor injury/niggle.
But it's all my guess.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
That does not mean it’s a serious issue. Players have to provide the tournament organizer what the reason is while retiring. So it could be just that.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
^^^^ Yes, I know that. But, her giving that reason instead of something like illness or something is worrying in case of Karman knowing her injury history. We will know for sure at USO qualies next week if it is serious or not.
